Which brand to get

Subj: Which brand to get

I have seen 4 brands of unicycles and would like hear about which brand would be
recommended for a 24" unicycle. The four brands are Schwinn for about $190 US,
Semcycle for about $210 US, Braun for about $100 US, and Miyata (no idea on cost
for this one). I currently have a 20" Schwinn that I like but would like to hear
about the pluses and minuses for the others as well.

Thanks, Jeff

I gotta say- I love my 24" Semcycle.

I’ve had a couple of Schwinns, and a slew of Tiawanese. The Schwinns are
very good quality also, but for the $20 difference, why not go with the
Cadillac of unis?

Of course you know you’re opening up a can of worms here. You’ll never get this
group to agree on which is the best.

Good Luck

G’day from Australia where we have a very limited choice on unicycle brands.
After breaking 3 Taiwanese uni’s I bought a Semcycle. I wouldn’t go past it for
anything else. The saying is true - You get what you pay for.

I have 20" and a 24" schwninn and a 24" miyata- the miyata is really light
and in think it feels a little more responsive than my 24" schwinn. the
miyata costs about $250 where i bought it (tom miller: the unicycle factory,
by the way where are you planning on getting the miyata from if you buy it?)
. the schwinn is heavier and my dad and i both think the seat is less
comfortable than the Miyata (mom doesn’t mind the seat, but my dad and i
won’t let her on our miyatas yet- she’s still just learning) One other thing:
the miyata’s plastic seat gaurds cover the entire front and back of the seat-
the schwinn’s cover slightly less than that as the seat fabric on my schwinns
have been bashed a few times even with the gaurds.

well can’t say anything about the semcycles and braun’s but between the schwinn
and the miyata, i’d definitely get a miyata, even though it costs more

Why get a Cadillac when you can get a Ferrari (Miyata, of course)?

he he- just kidding i really couldn’t say which is better since i’ve never
ridden a Sem’

Re: Which brand to get

Consider a DM Unicycle if you can get one, in England a 48 spoke “SUPERHOC”
costs the same as 20 inch semcycle. I liked both but on balance I decided I
preferred a Rigid frame and sold my Semcycle and bought the DM.

Miyatas impress me too especially their light weight but are difficult to get
hold of in England ands dont fit the 2.1 inch tyres that I prefer.

For the ultimate in light-weight Carbon Fibre try Roger Davies !
