I’m kind of new at the unicycling thing and currently ride an all-purpose standard unicycle. However, I’d like to get into muni. WHere can I buy a mountain unicycle. Central PA isn’t exactly the Mecca of extreme outdoor sports. I’ve lloked around quite a bit online, but typically keep running into the same 1/2 dozen websites that sell Torker or Kris Holm. Is there anything else?
Unicycle.Com has everything.
Yeah, www.unicycle.com has everything, you can see pictures and compare stuf side by side.
Which particular uni are you leaning towards? Or what price range?
you could always come to melbourne:p
i dont think that helps you much though.
if not check out the trading post forum
I don’t think UDC has Koxx one

You can buy KH for about 100 less then UDC if You email AE Bike and ask for their best price. I heard that someone had them on ebay also. I have a KH 24 and it’s really nice. The 29 with double holed cranks is real popular also.
Koxx are well made, but seem a bit more pricey in the USA, so it seems KH is a bit more popular here.
Miles has all the sites you might want.
I’d recomend not to go to UDC. They have pretty shitty service.
Hey, Goatbreath, instead of bashing one of the largest distributors of unicycles in the US without giving any reasons, why not “air your dirty laundry” and give them a fair review?
Did you have a bad experience with them? What did you do to resolve it? How many transactions did you have with them; were they all bad?
Personally, I’ve had several dealings with UDC and they’ve been very responsive to my needs. On two occasions they’ve even called me to confirm the details of my order and offer advice on the parts I selected. I’d consider that great customer service.
Sure, you may have read about people having difficulty with UDC on these fora, but keep in mind that not a lot of people post about a non-difficulty! For every 1 “horror story” you read, there may be 100s or 1,000s of happy customers out there.
First of all, I’ll give them more shit for being the largest unicycle distributor cuz they have a monopoly and can overprice all the shit they have.
Second of all, EVERY single transaction I’ve had with them as been horrid.
I bought a saddle once that had a stripped nut on it. No big deal. I asked them to replace so they said that was cool. Just, I had to pay the shipping to send it back to Georgia and for them to send the new saddle. Then they sent me two. I told them about it and they said I could pay more shipping and send it back or just buy it. So I bought it.
Then, they’re wayyyy expensive. I can barely afford to unicycle anymore. I had to wait untill Christmas to start riding again. I needed a saddle. I can afford one but I don’t think it’s worth the money. Before you start dissing me about getting a job, I have one. I play in several bands/chamber music groups and solo. I don’t make much and I need to save it for college.
You’ll probably give me a whole bunch of bullshit about how they can’t have lower prices.
That’s because nobody seems to give a shit about their stuff costing more than it’s worth and keep on buying there.
There are other places that are cheaper, which is where I buy now.
And this shouldn’t be in JC.
Well, I wasn’t thinking about it, but I can if you like.
I was just hoping you’d give your story, to give some merit to your claim.
Personally, I like those folks. Any time I’ve had a problem, they’ve resolved it… and often at no cost to me (but additional cost to them).
That’s worth the few extra $$$ they might charge, IMHO.
Wanna talk about horror stories? How about that unmentionable place on the East Coast that was selling new Torkers at a ridiculous low cost, but didn’t ship them for months, and didn’t bother to notify anyone about the delay?
When you pay a cut rate, you get cut rate service.
Anybody who’d buy a Torker…
I forgot to mention that the stuff thy did send me took on average a month through a month and a half to get here.
Maybe they just don’t like me.
as they said, www.unicycle.com and if you are from central ,pa and williing to travel(depends what part of PA ) there is a club in washington near ptittsburgh( the club i go to:) ) and if you are interrested u can just PM me and stuf
Personally, UDC has been very good in their dealings with me. I’ve ordered two unicycles from them, and my parents have ordered from them also, and we have had no complaints. we always got exactly what we ordered, and had no problems.
def u should go to unicycle.com they have a real good selection
1) Or Sydney. Also you could come work with me and charmster when we begin our supreme unicycle project.
2) That’s a good place to start.
Just as a reminder to all us forum peoples, almost everyone buys a Torker.
Why did UDC make you buy a saddle they shipped to you by mistake? If it was their error it should cost you nothing to return it. This is a basic rule of the mail-order business. If you didn’t order something, you cannot be made to buy it or to incur any expense to get it back to where it came from.
I bought a Torker. It broke a lot…
I just want to forget about UDC really. I know that I shouldn’t of had to pay for it but I’m a total n00b at buying stuff online and one of my mistakes was to buy from UDC.
It’s weird how everyone else seems to of had great service with them.
But yeah, I wouldn’t buy from them ever again.
UDC will sometimes pay return shipping
I had got the wrong seat post for my KH 24. They sent me the rail post one, but I had bought the uni with an air seat, long story, that uses a standard post.
They wanted the rail post KH seat post back, and sent me a pre paid sticker to put on the box for UPS. Didn’t cost me a dime to send it back to them, I just had to drive it to the UPS place.
My impression of UDC is that the service can vary. They seem good hearted, and I always got my stuff.
Worst online retailer ever in my personal experience, in some ways. They hit my card 60 $ for a set of pedals they didn’t ship with my order. When I emailed them about it, they said they refunded my money. Next month, my bank statement says nothing. So I email them again. Next month, they refund my 60 $ for an item they had discontinued, yet charged me for,2 months previously. I had to whine and write twice to get back my $ for an item they never shipped.
Other sites let me know if things are out of stock. They don’t charge my card before they ship things. UDC seems to update their site at New Years and the 4th of July. And wing it from there.
Excellent selection really, the best. Gotta love that. And I have no out standing grievance with them. As long as you stay on top of things, they will make the deal right IMHO. I am sure they will get many orders from me in the future.
