When i was little

This is where we write about what we thought when we were little.

So i’ll get started. When i was little, my parents ordered me a happy meal. I would always look at the coke lid and it would say Diet or other. So i thought if i popped OTHER it would turn into fanta or water and sometimes coffee.

Have fun and enjoy…

Darn nice idea for a thread, Hazmat.

When I was little, the Happy Meal hadn’t been invented yet. I remember my favorite fast food place was Arby’s Roast Beef, and back then, they used real roast beef…carved to order from a “steamship roast” that they kept in a glass case right up front where you could see it. Still shaved paper thin as today, but with a taste beyond compare against that pressed grey “beef” they serve on their sandwiches today. I thought it was the best sandwich in the universe. Going there was a special occassion, and my parents used to let my sister and I order as many as we could eat. I think I got through three one time, although my little tummy regreted it.

When I was a little kid, I would sometimes get lost in highly populated places. Three instances stick out in my mind more than anything else.

  1. I was at Disney World with my mom and two aunts. My mom thought I was with my aunt, and my aunt thought I was with my mom. I had gone in search of Goofy’s house, found it, and lost everyone else.
  2. I got lost in Disney World for a second time. I don’t know why I separated from the group and I don’t know how I was found.
  3. I was with my mom and two other aunts in New York when I was 3 or 4 years old. I was excited to get onto the subway train for the first time and I got onto the wrong one…alone. I remember small bits and peices of that small journey. I spoke with a cop lady at the end of the subway line, I played tangoes and the golf-tee & triangular wood game, and I vaguely remember stepping onto the actual train, though my mind may have since manifested that image from various other trips to NY and other subway rides. I’ll never really know.

When I was little, the kids used to hop a freight train, which slowed or stopped for a rest near our playground. I never did it, cuz I was scared.

Michael Rivers was only 8 years old when he died, because he fell but his legs had slipped thru the ladder on a box car, and he got dragged.

When I was little, my dad convinced me that water towers had maple syrup in them.

My grandparents convinced me they worked for the circus when they were little.

It’s a wonder I don’t have trust issues…

When I was little I was smaller than I am now.

when i was little, the tiniest amount of snow made it a powderday.

I live in Texas…that’s still true for me.

When I was little I used to fli cat’s ears inside out and say it was bologna in a weird voice.

I used to bounce in a little bouncy seat constantly when I was a baby. Also, I’d go to sleep on the dryer because of it’s warmth and vibration. Finally, I used to stare at this certain coat hanger like a zombie when my mom rocked me to sleep. Oh, and I was a really chubby baby…I had rolls.

when i was little, my brother and i would fight about looking out each other’s windows on XC road trips. i would also intentionally fall asleep in weird paces, once i was playing hide-n’-seek and fell asleep in a linen closet. it made the babysitter flip out.

when I was little on the playground kids would try to be better than others by saying “my sister could beat up your sister…”

  1. When I was little, I used to think I was a special agent who had an invisible watch on my wrist that I could use to talk to my boss.

  2. I talked to my imaginary friends everyday cuz I was scared they would turn into the boogey man if I forgot about them. (I still do that sometimes now…just to make sure…)

well when i was little (im only 13, so im really still “little” even thought im 5’9" and weight 189 pounds) well i was weird. people always made fun of me for being fat lol. but i got over it in football when i turned buff and kids compliment me on my “fat” but anywaysi would be in my own little world as a kid, like my bball coach told my dad that i would stare at something in the distance when he would lecture me on some thing. and even now my dad calls me “spacecadet”

When I was little, I was.

oh yeah, well when i was little PLUTO WAS A PLANET!!!

When i was little i got yoghurt all over the car interior, i am no longer aloud yoghurt in the car.

When I was little, I learned to ride a unicycle.

When I was little, We would play ‘kick the can’ at the end of the street.

When I was little, We built tree forts.

Those were good times.

When I was little… my dad told me there was a photosensitive spot on the top of my head called a pineal eye. I used to stay up late at night with the light on in my room, eyes shut tight, pointing my noggin at the light while parting my hair differently trying to see the light with my scalp.

When I was little, I’d be so excited about playing, that I’d wait til the last minute to go to the bathroom. This would usually resort to me running to my house, and ringing the door bell, because I couldn’t stop doing the pee pee dance to open the door. Good times.
