I think Stratovarius started it, firing Timo, then firing the replacement, then rehiring Timo (not sure if he’s still with them.)
Lost Horizon’s singer left last year (Okay, techinically, he’s sweedish, but he sings in the Finnish style)
The Tarja Turunen get’s kicked out of Nightwish in that fiasco.
And now Finntroll’s singer just got the boot.
And as much as I’d love to see Tarja sing with Finntroll, I somehow doubt that will happen.
As one of the only Nordic countries to make heavy metal with clean vocals, you’d think they’d want to hold on to them.
Finntroll kicked him out about a week and a half ago.
Kimberly Goss currently sings for the Finnish band Sinergy. She was also the former keyboardist for Norwegians Dimmu Borgir and Swedes Therion. She’s married to Alexi from Children of Bodom. She’s American, though she used to live in Japan, and her parents are from Korea and Germany.
Sure, if Finland is anywhere near New Zealand I think I’m prehaps about as far away from Finland as possible without going somewhere which is frozen. Don’t quote me on that, because I’m probably wrong
Yes, you must! Suicide By My Side and To Hell and Back are amazing albums.
And while you’re at it, get the first Warmen album (Beyond Abilities). It’s Children of Bodom’s keyboardist (Janne Wirmen)'s solo project. Mostly instrumental, but with some guest vocalists, includinging Sinergy’s Kimberly Goss. Be aware, though…there’s no shortage of keyboard wankery and self-indulgence on this album. It’s a great album, though–I like it better than Derek Sherinian’s (Formerly of Dream Theater) Black Utopia album, which is another instrumental prog/metal album written by a keyboardist. That one, however, is American (Although one of the lead guitarists was born in Sweden…)
Actually, I think you wouldn’t really even have to go anywhere frozen.
Surface area distance (not digging through the earth) froim Helsinki to Auckland is 10,350 miles. Half the circumference of the earth (biggest possible point-to-point distance is only 2,000 miles more than that, so if you’re in southern NZ, you probably could not get any farther from northern Finland while staying on the planet.
And as a side note…remind me to NEVER take a plane flight from Scandinavia to New Zealand.
