Great to hear from so many if you!
Glad that some good stuff happened to so many of you. I got married, too. I am holding out on saying if it was the best thing or not. Congrats to you, Mikefule. On the woman, kiddos, and the Jeffries. Not familiar with Marcus…
I picked the English concertina because I want to play classical as well as Irish tunes on it. So far it hasnt let me down. I have a Morse Baritone Geordie. Excellent instrument for me. I love the baritone range There is an Irish music group that plays every week and has open doors, but mandatory playing by ear, no sheet music allowed. I cant pay by ear for cr*p so I havent attended yet.
Wobblin’ :I have a New York Trumpet Company flugel, Stage 1 California model. It is serial number CA001FL, thats right, the first of the line. I called the mfg about it to make certain. Its a one of a kind because the way the 3rd valve trigger was changed after the prototype. I play the flugel on my own, like the EC, but I did make the 2nd trumpet section in the community band. I use a beat up Yamaha trumpet for that. The flugel sounds like chocolate milk. I love it. Still working on the trumpet sound. It is shrill compared to the flugel. Courtois are supposed to be very fine Flugels.
I quit my “9-5” job and now do all my work at home and even teach online. Its great to be by the dogs, save on gas, have my PJs on all day! Funny thing is, because I am happier, I am more productive and do better work. I do more and am in greater demand so I make more money. Happiness is key.
57uni, nice to meet ya. Hope to keep in touch, but I suffer from forum addiction, so I had to quit. I am indulging myself a wee bit now…
For those of you who think unicycling is dangerous: i decided to switch up my exercise routine to consider my hubby’s preferences, he wont try unicycling… So I started running. Now, because of the same stubbornness that enabled me to ride unis and ults, pushing too hard running I earned one foot surgery, several stress fractures in feet, one broken tibia from abuse of a stress fracture, and now a severely inflamed disc herniation. So, DONT RUN, RIDE!!
Jjuggle, great news about fittness. You must feel fantastic. I am on a constant diet since my back wont tolerate exercise.
Zzagg, I am still working to use the elephant data. I work with some paleontologists who are trying to figure out where to dig in the bering straits for mammoth remains. Apparently there was an population that survived well into the Holocene up there somehow. Not only may the elephant poop data that I collected be used in the study, I will get to develop some interactive animations in HTML5 for the outreach component of the research if we get full funding. Very cool. I am pretty good with html5 and css3 now, i am trying to learn javascript to complete the package, but i need a big block of time to concentrate and that doesnt happen too often…
Thanks for the updates and well-wishes. Makes me really happy to hear about good people and good things in their lives!
