The Idea of a giant purple people eating rock and roll monster must have been quite radical for 1958.

It was a kid song when I was a kid too.
It must be hard for all the songs that you thought of as “cool” to become kids songs. all though i have yet to hear blonde headed stompi wompie on a kids CD
My interest in early music was sparked by watching heartbeat, feel in love with the kinks and swinging blue jeans.
I actually think it’s a good song.

Actually I seem to remember it from an album of offbeat songs called Goofy Greats from the mid-1970s. That record also had songs like Snoopy vs. the Red Baron, Bread & Butter, Itsy-bitsy Teeny-Weeny Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini, etc.
And also Alley oop!
Plus more and more classic rock songs are being played on easy listening radio stations. I can’t think of an example right now (maybe some Doors songs?), but it seems that our threshold for “easy listening” keeps getting lower. Can anyone think of examples?
