What unicycle(s) are you bringing to NUC?

This will be my first NUC and I can’t figure out which uni to bring. My
current fave is my United 20 Monty Conversion but I would like to
participate in the cruise around downtown and I can’t imagine doing that
on a 20. I’ve given my 24 away to a friend so my next choice would be my
Pashley which would be great for cruising but I’m not as stable on for
other events.

I guess I could lug out the Pashley and one of my 20s but that seems like
a pain. Perhaps it’s time to buy a new 24 and bring that.

I’m very interested in what others are doing. Is a 24" the best choice
for a NUC?

In a quandry,

I’m bringing my MUni and a 20" freestyle unicycle. We might also bring the
ultimate wheel for fun. If I were just going to bring one, it would be the
one I ride most (the MUni in my case).

I’m using my wife’s 24" Miyata for racing. My son is bringing a 24"
Miyata for racing and his Monty for everything else.

Ohhhh…so you are bringing a 20" freestyle and your MUni just for you and
you weren’t counting the other three Unis that Megumi and Beau are
bringing. So how are you transporting FIVE unis??

I’m bringing a 27" nobby tire for the hard terrain, a coker for the city
ride, a 24" for racing, a 28" for Artisic freestyle, and a 40" big wheel
just to play around with. I just hope my van makes it to Toronto!!

We have 3 of those Roach bags which fit two in each easily. Just take off
the pedals, tie the two unis together and throw in some soft stuff around
them for padding. My Roach pads go around the Telford frame for extra
protection. We’ve done it this way several times and it works great. We
brought a new 4’ giraffe back from China this way too - even it fits in
there. Just remember, you can’t have too many unicycles, especially at a
unicycle convention. I don’t know what’s in stock at unicyclesource, but

I’m definitely taking my muni and 20". I’m still trying to figure out if
I’ll be able to pack up the 24". I’m flying in so I’m limited in how much
I can bring without getting hit for excess baggage. If I can fit the 24"
in I’ll bring it, otherwise I just won’t do any track events. If I can’t
fit the 24" in I’ll try to bring my mini giraffe. The little giraffe packs
up nice and small and is fun to ride.

But next year when NUC and UniCon are in my backyard my decision will be
what not to bring rather than what to bring.

I guess I’ll be coming prepared… I’ve got a short drive, and a big
station wagon. Hmm, I wonder what other toys I should bring along once
I’ve got all the unicycles in there.

It’s a scary thing when I cannot remember how many unicycles there are in
my apartment. I suppose this is even more scary when I consider that the
first time I touched a unicycle was about a year and a half ago.

Bring some juggling toys!

I’m going to have my 20" freestyle (or Jacquie’s so we can share), 24"
generic Miyata (no track uni anymore, so I’ll race with 5.5" cranks), and
my 26" MUni. We’re flying.

Miyata 20 Sem/Monty 20 Miyata 24 DM Vortex 24 Coker

(I’m driving, needless to say) Joe

Before people started asking who was bringing what, I was planning to just
bring the unicycles I use the most, and leave the rest at home. Now, I
think I’ll take everything that will fit in my car.

Sem 20" Coker Muni 24x3.0" Schwinn 24" Sem Giraffe 6’ Homemade 26" (in
case anyone wants to laugh at it) UW 26" (maybe I’ll actually try to learn
to use it)

hmm, that should leave me plenty of extra room for fun toys like my
juggling balls, clubs, torches, walking globe, freestanding ladder, and
who knows what else.

Wow, when I moved to college, I could fit all my possesions in my car.
When I move out, I feat I may have to rent a Uhaul just for my unicycling
and juggling props alone. (Proof of all the productive learning I’ve been
doing, I suppose.) It makes me wonder if cleaning my room would turn up
forgotten unicycles.
