Another strange one i found was the Huni-Rex…It claimed on the description that it would go as fast as a b*ke!! 
From the press release:

The HUNI-REX doesn’t really make sense to me.
Why use a chain if you’re not even gearing it?

I think they just designed this thing without ever seeing a 36" guni.
It is geared for speed. It looks like they need to get the pedals a little closer to the frame. It has an inherently high Q-factor anyway. Having the pedals close to the ground can also be an advantage. Stepping of of the uni is a much shorter trip to earth than on a 36. It has the same advantage as other Gunis in being a small vehicle for storage. Shorter cranks would be better clearance and potentially higher speed.

This is a thread about unicycling and, as such, should have been posted in RSU, not JC.
Here is a 2005 thread in which a description of a beautiful split-axle geared unicycle designed and built by George Barnes is given and discussed. The Barnes design had the driven cogs located above the wheel axle. The shortcomings of the “low-rider” design exhibited by the HUNI-REX are discussed in this thread. The thread is about six years old and unfortunately the links to the photos of George’s stunningly beautiful work and the videos of his test rides are long gone.
Does it really matter that much…I just opened this thread to have ‘conversations’ on wierd and wonderful designs of 1 wheeled modes of transport…
I rode on of those at BUC last year…
It did go fast, without having to pedal quickly. But it felt HORRIBLE to ride, the pedals would hit the ground whenever you tried to turn, and the gearing is so high you start pedalling slowly, and never really build any more speed.
I’d take a regular 29" over this any day, quicker and more practical.
In the scheme of all things, then no.
Within the structure of the forums, the English language, and your ability to read, interpret, and organize, then yes.

As for reading it’s one of my favorite things to do…I guess it does matter to you and all i can say (here comes the excuse) i’m new to forums in general and just thought this thread could be interpreted as general discussion.

That this thread is in JC is unimportant in and of itself. All future unicycling related threads should be posted in RSU. That is where the folks who do not stray into JC territory are more likely to see it, appreciate it, and respond to it. Gilby is, understandably, very unlikely to move threads around from one forum to another and he is the only avenue of transfer.

That’s too bad, because the thread title says nothing of your intent. Nobody will be likely to find it by searching with such terms. Try to keep this in mind (and where to post them) if you create new threads in the future.
The original design at the top of this thread is obviously some beautiful 3d renderings of a cool design that’s a very long way from being a functional device. It looks like what George Jetson would use if he had a unicycle. But making one, and having it come in under 30 pounds/15 kilos, and not break easily, would probably be very difficult.
Give the thing a chance. Geared-up unicycles are inherently harder to ride than ungeared ones, and they do take a while to get used to. I like the idea of having the pedals below the wheel axle, but putting them too low (especially with a wide Q factor) will be a problem with turning.
The advantage of such a design is a lighter and cheaper wheel than a 36. Well, maybe not after adding the drive system, but something that can be made in Hungary without importing or manufacturing exotic parts. And the lower price can be well worth the inability to shift gears.
