There is an “all metal antique unicycle” for sale on Ebay. Is it an ornament of
some kind or do you think that it is a genuine antique from some circus act? It
looks like some of the drawings in Jack Wiley’s books?

Just curious–I’m not buying or selling.

Fascinating! Note the seller describes this piece of rust as being “COMPLETE AND
IN EXCELLENT CONDITION”. I would not buy it based on this obvious falsehood
alone. Also the wheel looks like it was not designed to bear much weight,
certainly not the weight of a person.
It might have been part of an old tricycle? But it doesn’t have a clear place
where a steering mechanism and frame were attached. I think more likely it was a
bicycle decoration, or other piece of art designed for looks, but not to ride.
There is also the slight possibility that it is indeed a very old unicycle,
which means it was hand made. Ouch. But I can’t get past that wheel, which
doesn’t look strong enough for anyone to ride it.
It might make a nice wall hanging though, as is. But I just can’t get by the
seller’s B.S. description enough to actually send them my money.

Do you mean before or after he (and the unicycle) went off the cliff?

And you’d better act fast – so far the bidding has gone from $20 to $20…

Hi David.
Looks like one of the very first mountain unicycles. Looks pretty rough, though.
Makes one wonder what the rider looked like.
