Alright…but if they’ve ALWAYS sucked, then there’s still no “before and after” for the comparison.
Getting too emotionally involved in the subthread. Must retreat to headphones…
Genesis with Peter Gabriel - Genesis with Phil Collins or is it the other way around? I’m not sure which I like better, but totally different.
If you want to hear that song with “passion” and “feeling” listen to Orgy’s version.
mmm, sounds interesting
i’ll try n check it out next time i get to a CD shop
i do still like the original tho
I like their live stuff just after Gabriel departed, when the band was still playing all his stuff, but with Collins singing. At that time, Collins wasn’t yet so high on himself, wasn’t too cool to play the drums, wasn’t yet interested in sacrificing all for the Hits. He was never as creative as Gabriel, but he was always a much more powerful singer (IMO). Seconds Out is a GREAT album–certainly one of the classic live rock albums–and it’s all about Collins delivering on Gabriel material.
O yeah, to the tread: Airplaine is to Starship as Lynyrd Skynyrd is to Rossington-Collins.
I just grabbed it from P2P.
The Orgy version is better to listen to. But it is still a dance song. I wonder how it would sound if U2 did it?
and just like that, the thread’s come full-circle
And what A Long Strange Trip Its Been.
Lets see how many more pages it takes before this Free Bird comes home to roost again.
Long Live Rock! (Who said that)
i have no idea
and while i’m wondering (and waiting for u to post the correct answer) here’s one for u to chew on
‘I want everything louder than everything else.’
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
The Who - Be it dead or alive
Genesis
Genesis was indeed at there finest in the early Phil Collins stuff. Trick of The Tail and Wind and Wuthering are their best albums.
Janis would’ve been 62 today
I was being redundant.
(The) Who said that. vs. Who said that?
Damn, I had to explain another joke.
Great song to get stuck in your head.
Yeah, as opposed to “Knock Three Times on the Ceiling”, which is a really BAD song to get stuck in your head.
Hmmm…inspiration perhaps.
i don’t think u should take any ‘Damn’ onboard for having to explain another joke
i, on the other hand, am off to go say a couple of hundred ‘Flail Mary’s’ for being so stoopid
and wonder why no-one’s brought up Fleetwood Mac pre-‘The Girls’ and Fleetwood Mac post-‘The Girls’?
You’re right, my deepest apologies for including the curse word. :o I should practice what I preach.
Dam is what a fish says when it bumps into concrete.
We now bring you back to your regular scheduled thread…
oh, not at all
i don’t consider ‘Damn’ a curse word and i think people who do should F*#& Off
i simply meant that u shouldn’t feel bad for having to explain a joke
i’m allready feeling bad enough for having to have it explained to me to make up for the both of us
Damn is a curse word. I believe “potty talk” is broken down into three major categories:
Profanities such as saying " Jesus Christ!" as an inappropriate exclaimation.
Vulgarities such as Sh**, F*#&, and the multiple sexual reference words.
Cursing such as Damn and its variations.
Whether you find certain Profanities, Vulgarities, or Curses offensive and others not is another matter.
BACK TO ON TOPIC:
Coming home from Uni practice last week I hit the radio button for our local hard rock station (Hard rock/metal, not classic, easy, oldies, etc).
There was a song with a real driving, heavy metal chord progression that sounded familiar and I quickly realized it was a version of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in The Wall” (Hey Teacher, leave those kids alone) that I had never heard.
I thought it may be a cover until the guitar solo came on and it sounded spot on with the original. Even the “kids choir” section sounded original.
I have tried to call the station but they never seem to answer when I’m thinking about it.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? Is it another Pink Floyd recording? Live perhaps? A cover? Where is this one from?
could it be from the live ‘Wall’ shows they staged at the Berlin Wall?
