WHat instruments do you play?

I think the reason I wanted to learn the bass and uke is because I could probably be half decent pretty quickly since I am an advanced guitarist. I tried to play a uke in a store once and could play by ear right away. I just have to pick one up somewhere.

Bass clarinet in a local community band.

AWESOME!!! i play Eb contra-alto clarinet. a.k.a. the really big clarinet

Yeah, I hate guys who are just starting to learn something. Also, people who carry their instruments around. And especially people who are just learning an instrument and carrying it around.

Do you play classical or punk-goth theramin?

I played B-flat contra-bass clarinet in college. The big clarinets really rumble in the low range. They are great fun to play!

Especially if they are carrying it to LESSONS, right?

Especially them. What a bunch of schmucks they are.

Haha, not in DFW they’re not. Texas is a huge music state, and the competition in the metroplex is rough - lots of wealthy parents with money to burn on their kids’ instruments and lessons. I made 1st chair Pennsylvania All-State in 2006 on euphonium, a relatively obscure instrument, but I don’t think I would have stood a chance of getting to All-State band in Texas, especially in Dallas/Ft. Worth.

But who knows, erick might still become a ‘horn star’ :p:o Practice, practice, practice…

Actually I haven’t played theremin at all for a few years - sold mine to justify my new 36" wheel purchase in fact. I had a Moog/Big Briar theremin - quite close sounding to the real RCA ones. I suppose I played mostly classical music on it (Clara Rockmore influenced) - I could play things like The Swan reasonably well, but never got that good, and it didn’t get much use for a fairly expensive bit of kit so I decided to sell it (and ended up getting as much as I paid for it).

Yeah, there’s lots of good people over here. I’m about to go into the senior high school from the jr.high, and this past year the sr.high had a really awesome horn section. Out of the 6 players, all of them made all region, 4 made all area, and 3 made All-State, 2 of the three being in the top all state group. The 3 that made state were seniors, so they’re not going to be there anymore though. And that’s just the horn section. In total, 11 people made all state last year from the school i’m going this year.

But yeah, I want to get really good at unicycling and Horn playing so i’m going to practice, practice, practice on both :stuck_out_tongue:

I play spokes… while I do flat on my unicycle.

I tension my spokes to a different level so when I ride flat and hit the spokes it plays a beautiful melody.

I play bass and a bit of violin.

Bagpipes.

I play with the Stevenson Hamilton Pipe Band in Nelspruit.

I play piano/keyboard/synth, no specific genre really

I play…

I mainly play brass instruments, with my principle instrument being bass trombone. I can also play tuba (Bb and Eb), eupho, tenor horn, trumpet, slide trumpet (aka piccolo trombone), tenor and alto trombone.

I also play piano, keys, melodica (i own 8, it was an ebay obsession for me a few years back) and piano accordian. I dabble in blues harp, double bass and clarinet, and occasionally i play the “fool”…

I’d like to learn to play the theremin, after being inspired when I watched a dvd on which UK comedy genius Bill Bailey plays it. Cello is also on my list of things to learn, as I’d love to be able to play the Bach cello suites on cello, rather than bass trombone.

drumms :sunglasses:

I played piano (3 years) and did singing at one point. I play the drums (3 years) and guitar (two years). I am just starting to use a synthesizer to make my own songs.

Circular Breathing

LOL I wasn’t planning to post here until I read your comment because I have just started to learn  ;)

Now I can say I am planning to carry my Digeridoo across my back as I ride my N36 into the countryside to practice playing. :sunglasses:

BTW I found your uni write-ups and photos very entertaining to read at:

Hey, thanks, Geoff!

I just rode in the Black Fly Challenge yesterday, so I’ll have a new write-up soon.
