ISIS is a standard type of spline, it defines the number of splines, depth, diameter, taper etc. The idea is that any ISIS componenet made by any company will fit together, it was invented by the bike industry some years ago. Its introduction to unicycling has been fairly recent, and there have been problems with KOXX ISIS components, which apparently don’t fit other ISIS equipment made by other manafacturers. The use of ISIS extends the range of cranks that unicyclists can use to include some made by bike manafacturers.
