Hey! I’m just curious to see what we might all have in common around here. Post your hobbies, school activities (if applicable), things you like to do on a uni, etc., etc.
I unicycle (duh!)
my hobbies include: electronics, programming, robotics, model rocketry, unicycling, juggling, kites, r.c., etc.
I’m in the FIRST robotics program, I run in cross country (blah: I hate running!)
I like to ride my uni off road, though I’m a little inexperienced so I wouldn’t call it muni
I’m a drummer. In particular I like to play and listen to funk, jazz and jazz funk. Once I get myself another job and earn a bit more money, I’m going to buy some 8" or 10" hi-hats. I have a beautiful Mapex ProM Series kit that fades from dark blue to white.
I’m studying architecture at the moment (1st year) which I’m finding very interesting.
My favourite type of unicycling is muni, and it will always be. It’s closely followed however, by trials and in particular rail riding. I also really enjoy freestyle, but I’m not very good at it. I’m going to eventually make or have made a two wheeler with two 12" wheels and a seated hand-driven uni which should be a lot of fun.
I’m 18, I’ve been to UniNats 2003 and am organising the Austrlian MUni Weekend. I really really want to make it to one of the Unicons and a Moab Munifest.
5 days a week I go to school. Im a ninth grade student.
I started riding bike trials a few weeks back but i fall on my back alot so i have to get better. But its fun.
I ride alot of uni. Trials street and freestyle, I want to ge into muni.
i’m a radio presenter and -engineer for a retail radio station serving the largest supermarket chain in south africa
i’m a keen juggler and rockclimber
i ride freestyle and i love my raffie
i’m working at improving my juggling on the uni and a medium term goal is to be able to pass seven clubs with another raffie-rider
i recently bought a set of cigar boxes and i’m (still:o ) desperately trying to learn to ride one-footed
Personal best last night. I got six revolutions one-footed.
I’m trying to learn one-footed forwards before Brad learns one-footed backwards. So far I’m losing in a big way. He made it past the center line in the gym last night.
My main hobby/sport/passion is unicycling, particularly muni, though I try to practice a little trials now and then so I don’t fall too far behind John, Trip, Nick, and Sam. I also do long distance on a 700c uni, but that’s not as much for fun as for exercise (and MS Bike Tour).
I’m also learning the banjo which my folks bought for me so I’d stop unicycling. Banjo’s fun, but it’s no replacement for unicycling!
Also into classic car restoration, mostly MGB’s. I’d like to get a Triumph GT6 and Cooper Mini, and one day do a V8 conversion on a chrome bumper MGBGT…and paint it black with flames. Also interested in a Subaru Brat, 240 Z, and Opal GT. (Not all at once).
Right now I’m studying Russian Language and Literature at UVA, but I think I’m gonna transfer back to VCU and finish my broadcast journalism degree. Still very interested in learning Russian, and living and working there, but I don’t need a degree in it to do that.
I’m mainly a guitarist.
Other interests are unicycling, mountain biking, climbing, and juggling.
Mechanical things fascinate me so I also often tinker under the hood of my Subaru.
I also love flying and am addicted to flightsims. Helicopters are my aircraft of choice. Maybe someday I’ll have my very own Astar. If I can ever dig up the cash, I’ll get my commercial helicopter pilot’s license.
I’m still in Highschool so I do many highschool like things. I:
I am a lighting and sound technician for my highschool drama department. It is mostly volunteer work but I get to spend tens of thousands of dollars of the schools money on robotic lights that I alone get to play with. When outside groups use our auditorium they have to hire me at $12.50 an hour. Sometimes I am just there as a “Technical Advisor” and I am paid for, as my parents like to put it “watching dancing girls.” These gigs help me to support my habit. Unicycling of course.
I am adicted to unicycling. I have not gone a single day without riding my uni since I learned how which was just after Christmas when I got it.
I run track and crosss-country, sometimes run ultramarathons and love running but not as much as my uni.
I am a member of my church youth group planning team and so am at church 2-3 days a week for a few hours each time. I find that the church is a great place to uni.
I am an Eagle Scout and I recently signed on as an assistant scoutmaster for my troop. This takes time but I plan to try to push for the creation of a unicycling merit badge.
I am certified in computer repair and so get stuck fixing everyones computer for free. I used to love computers and gaming but I hate computers now. (Except for the fact that they keep me connected to other unicyclists)
I do a lot of road cycling. For distance and speed.
I backpack whenever possible.
canoeing is a hobby along with rock climbing, and other things I picked up as a boyscout.
I do the usuaul things with my friends.
I love to eat and have yet to lose an eating contest.
I also enjoy helicopters, that is my dream job, and I love looking at them when they fly over. Ive got to ride in one one time and was alot of fun. Hopefully i will get to fly one one day.
I do rubiks cubes, spin objects on my fingers, unicycle, juggle, diablo, devil sticks, card magic, sleight of hand magic, coin magic (im still a beginner at all 3 types of magic, however), hiking, sailing, rock climbing, and i listen to Gershwin. Im an odd duckling.
I’ve had this obsession with helicopters since I was probably around 8-10 years old. My summer job involves riding in helicopters every day for about 2-4 weeks out of the summer. There’s a 19 year old guy I know who got his license a year ago. Crazy young for a commercial pilot, he doesn’t have a job yet though.
Flightsims are realistic enough nowadays that they’ll hold me over until I find 50 grand to go for training.
I’m a Guitarest, Unicyclist, Juggler, Songwriter & Composer.
I play Billiards-snooker-pool, Cricket, Ten-pin Bowling.
I love watching Motor racing also. And of cause I’m 37 years old.
I recently took up Volunteer working with the Salvation Army and loving it. I turn Christian already. I’m now heavily involved with the Salvation Army and I haven’t look back since.
David.
Andrew.
I’m fine and hopefully be back on these forums soon enough at home.
That’s awesome! I learned to solve it using really bad algorithms, I think my record is just under 3 minutes, and that was mostly chance. I went to speedcubing.com and started to memorize some of the final layer algorithms, but then I thought, “Gee, I could be unicycling now.” People seem to be plenty impressed that I can solve it at all. Not that I think it’s dumb to memorize 78 algorithms, in fact I truly think it’s amazing, just not something I’m willing to tackle right now.
