What Did I do wrong well Spoking my rim?

well i thought i would try and spoke my rim myself but for some reason it went all wrong and i cant put my finger on what i did wrong some one help me?? :sunglasses:

Is that a 1/5th double cross pattern with 4/5ths radial?

EDIT: Nevermind, I see some quadruple cross in there too.

You forgot the hub.
You need to put the hub in the middle of all those, that’s what keeps them all connected.

Ha ha.

I think you need professional help. With the wheelbuilding, that is. And yeah, if you want to do it yourself, get your hub and rent a low budget sci fi movie. At least that’s what I did the last time I laced my wheel.

Mandatory Reading.

But i got no hub, sure this wont work

As far as hubless wheelbuilds go, I think yours is just perfect.

I guess you could use a bean tin with holes in instead…

thanks i thought it was pretty good too… ok story behind it is i bent and twisted my hub and crank so now i’m waiting for my new hub and crank set to be order but that wont be until after xmas if i’m even lucky… so for those who think i’m a fool and dont know what i’m doing well ur right i dont, but i do know how to spoke a rim lol

All the wheels in my house that I own are 48h…

That’s what I hate about my Torker DX, 48h wheel… so stupid.

Yeah, 48h sucks, specially if you want to lace a 36H hub in there. You can do it with 3 lengths of spokes and I think you have to do a 3 cross/radial/crows foot weird pattern.

Story short, it builds a weak rim for unicycling.

i have heard about these new invisible hubs, i hear they are virtually indestructable!

What’s the big deal with hubs anyway? The way people talk, you’d think everything revolves around them or something.

The best way to lace your new wheel is to have an already-built wheel to copy. And a lot of patience. Expect it to take a few tries your first time, it did for me.

I’ve ridden a unicycle that’s the opposite of what’s in your picture, but I can’t find a picture. I called it the world’s stupidest unicycle. It’s something Jack Halpern put together just for fun. It’s a unicycle, except with no spokes, rim or tire. I could ride it forward, backward, one foot, one foot idle, and lots of unispins. It doesn’t go very fast.

Wouldn’t that smash the hub flanges?

Eventually, but if you saw this unicycle you wouldn’t care either. We were more concerned about what it was doing to the floor. It was mostly used indoors.

It was made out of a unicycle like this one:
…Oops, can’t find the link to the old Unicycle Models page on Unicycling.org. Nice cleanup of the site, Gilby! A reminder of me to get on mine…
Anyway, I was looking for pictures of my old Concord, a 1970s uni from Japan with a tubular steel frame and a crap seat.

ba-dum psh

Didn’t the cranks hit the floor? Or was that part of the fun?

Dont worry Sandy…I got your hub at my house…I even bent the cranks a little so you can ride it;)

I know you love me  I just had to post the wheel it looks funny with out the hub. anyone up to helping me get a set of KH 07 hub and crank please donate to the wilde foundation. Wildes my last name so it sounds better to be a foundation lol
