what are you doing for thanksgiving? do u eat it with family? all thanksgiving discussion here. me, im going down to the nursing home around here. ill dance for them for a bit. its amazing how much they appreciate that. my other dance friends will come with me for that. we did it last yr too, and it was a hit. then ill go home for a good dinner.
My grandparents always come in for Thanksgiving from Tennessee…same deal this year. We’ll do our typical “veg out and watch football” deal, and then the traditional turkey dinner with all my grandma’s fixins.
Actually, I’ll probably have my uni for almost a week by then…I guess some of my thanksgiving will consist of finally learning to ride.
my thanksgivin was a month ago…but it was the stereotypical whole family from all over gods craetion and alot of good food
i go to horseheads ny this year
Going on a cruise.
Looks like somebody else is going to cook for us!
I have a link to the cruise, but TinyUrl wasn’t working just now. Link pasted below for your annoyance: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/cruiseDetails/itineraryAndPricing.do;jsessionid=0000Jez7vjRaBWoMLWxsnUXLkkX:10ktmevl6?packageCode=MN04MB46&sailDate=1051121&date=20054&selectedCurrencyCode=&promoType=
Gaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
Me and my brother (kctheacy) are going to be in the Macys day parade with our unicycle group: The Gym Dandies. http://gymdandies.com/. We will all be on girrafes.
Taking the family to trash my sister’s house this year. I’m thankful someone else is hosting.
(I think we need a thread regarding who or what you are giving thanks to )
I’m going to Newberg Oregon and Hopewell Oregon. My brother lives down there.
Mom and Dad have both retired now and just this past summer, moved from Oklahoma City and into their retirement mansion (a duplex actually) in Marion, IL. OK city was a long ways away so we haven’t seen them for awhile. Looks like my whole family is descending on Marion for Thanksgiving. The exciting part is that we finally get to meet David and Christine, my sister and bro-in-law’s new adopted children from Guatemala.
I’ll be in PA with my son far away from all the other family. We may get a very small turkey or try accept an invite from someone who is taking in Thanksgiving “orphans.”
Trick is getting that invitation when we’re so new in town!
excuse my ignorance but just when is thanksgiving?
Thanx.
Cathy
I don’t know the exact formula, but it’s always on a Thursday, like the third Thursday in November. This year it’s the 24th.
Thanksgiving is an American-only holiday (or is it Canadian as well?). I like the sentiment, to remind ourselves to be thankful for what we have.
Correction: It’s not the “Macys Day Parade,” which I jokingly just wrote in another thread. Lots of people call it that, but they actually just do a big parade on Thanksgiving Day. Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade. Kind of a long name…
I will be cruising with Jacquie, her sister and family (husband, son, daughter, his mom and one of their nephews), and two of Jacquie’s other friends, the ones who made brief appearances at MUni Weekend. A big group! It should be a fun alternative. No traffic, no cooking, and especially no cleaning!
I’m going to Escondido, CA, where my brother and his wife are hosting Thanksgiving for the family. I hope there are some good unicycling spots!
Geez, we havent even started thinking about thanksgiving… seeing as its not till next october. But in october I went to my parents house and ate… but not too much like normal cause my mouth was all sore from my wisdom teeth having been out
Its Canadian as well… we do all the same things except we dont have school plays about it… we celebrate harvest and call it thanksgiving. Ours however is october 10th (this year at least) and its always in october where Americans have theres in november.
I wasn’t aware we even had school plays about it over here.
Haha you may not. I get that from tv… a very unreliable source- but Ive seen about a dozen american movies (bad movies) and tv shows where the kids do a play about the pilgrims. I really have no crediability here…
Looks like the wife, her brother, and I lack the cash to get back east for Thansgiving, so I’ll be cooking my first thanksgiving dinner, and it will only be for me and two other people! I’ll probably be working a lot too, it will be good to pick up some hours. Maybe I’ll do some early season skiing, too!
