west coast fires

so far there are 8 big fires going through san diego right now.

luckily none of them are near me…

-Miles

well, one of them is 12 miles away, eek.

There’s one big one near me too.

15000 acres burned, 30% contained. We’re all breathing smoke and ashes right now, as it’s less than 5 miles away.

That’s pretty close, huh? I’m feeling pretty grateful about all that rain that started during CMW now.

My brother and his family live near SD, but they’ve already headed to the coast to stay with his inlaws.

Make sure your uni is safe!

well, i haven’t had to evacuate, so yay.

if I had to I’d take my laptop, my trials and muni, a couple books, and other stuff like clothes.

Most of the fires are north of me, but the air here in San Carlos is pretty smoky. Some of my teachers are affected by the fires. My sister said that one of her favorite teacher’s house burned down. It’s scary stuff.

Very!
A firestorm like that invading residential areas is very scary stuff.

I had to evacuate yesterday, the fire was right behind my backyard. From the front of the house we could see flames coming over the top. Luckily my house didn’t catch on fire, it was pretty close though.

I wish everyone in So. Cal the best of luck with the fires

i dont have to do PE because of the fires. there like 8 or nine miles away from me.

No school for me for the rest of the week. At least it gives me a chance to catch up on some sleep and homework. Unfortunately it’s probably not healthy to go unicycling cuz the air quality is so poor.

so everything is burning where you are huh? well its snowing here lol

+1

You try wearing a face mask, or the buff thing which came with uni mag

sweet all the Capousd schools are closed 2marrow (that my school district)

Im off for all week.

no riding though because of the smoke.

its like hell… free time and now riding / skating.

How bad is it, as in how well can you see/ breath?

The air wasn’t even that bad for the last couple days. I just went outside this morning and it definitely is very noticeable now. The winds keep shifting so the fires are very unpredictable. Last i heard they were only using like 4 helicopters to put out the fires. And one of the firetrucks at the station near my house is just sitting in the garage.

nick it, be a public hero

edit- as long as you use it to fight fires

well, it still sucks to be outside but it’s getting better.
