Unispins are something that I have never bothered to try.
Nothing against them, but in a sport where you have the option of learning 100’s (1000’s?) of tricks, you are lucky that you can pick and choose which ones you learn. Gliding is way higher on my list than unispins.
Now, having said that…it is definetly harder than a suicide mount, but just like the suicide mount, the hardest part is picturing yourself actually doing it.
i can do 180 suicides to! i learned to do that a few minutes before i landed a unispin, they are very similar but it was more conquering the fear of the pedals that lead to the unispin. i love that trick and it is so impressive to non-riders.
i have once landed a 360 suicide as well, which i caught on video, which will be feature in my up and coming video. should be ready in a month or so.
i land the 180s seat in, i let go of the seat just before i land when i’m confident i’m goin to hit the pedals.
when i landed the 360 i landed it seat out because it’s a bit difficult to predict.
i think it is still a mount if it’s landed seat out, it’s just a jump mount rather than a suicide. i think what we have been talking about is more of a 180 jump mount because i spin the uni at the same time as i jump, rather than letting go of the uni before i jump. however 180 suicide sounds much better:D
After trying the 180 suicide mount I have much (even more) admiration for Sofa. That **** is ******* hard! I mean seriously! I destroyed myself, this was way more “physical” then a regular suicide mount. I took so many falls and nutters.
I let go when it’s pretty much perfectly sideways. I found that if I didn’t hold on that long one of my legs would hit the seat and knock it over. Do you let go long before it gets sideways? Like just spin it and then jump on?
edit: On second look I always let go of the uni a little bit before sideways. It’s hard to see though because it’s dark.
I let go of the seat as my feet are leaving the ground
edit: I use very little hand force to spin the uni, so it spins as I leap. I’ll get a vid tomorrow bright and early.
My MUni is out of order right now, so I’ll have to try it on the Monty. May as well try it out on the Coker too, I suppose, I can’t get it out of my mind
sweet, i want to see how you do it. for the regular suicide mount i always let go then jump, but for some reason my leg always knocked the uni over when i was doing the 180 unless i held on to it a bit. i’ll have to watch your vid and try and do it better tomorrow. i think it won’t be too hard, it’s just that it seemed like an incomplete motion unless i was doing it all at the same time.
edit: i think also i may be used to a unispin type spinning motion…
you know how when you are holding the seat pre-suicide, you are holding the uni upright, and steady, and you (well, I do) have one hand in front of the seat and one in back.
Start just the same, but with the uni reversed.
Then as you are hopping, slightly (it sure doesn’t take much) flick the seat to start the spin.
edit: you certainly have already accomplished the trick, but this way looks 10 times cooler
