Two weeks ago you were thrice thirteen and a fortnight from twoscore. Congratulations on making it to 40, Chad. You’ll be 40 and a half before you know it and this will seem young.

The good news is, by my calculations, the clock really starts at about 22 yrs, when we get out of school and “grow up” into the real world. Since science will keep us going till roughly 100, you’re actually only 18 years gone-by with 60 to-go. In 8 years you’ll be 26 with 52 yet ahead, which might look like “middle-age”. Here we simply switch back to the standard system, whereupon you’ll be 48 with 52 still ahead. Again, not yet “middle-age”. Or you can keep the 26 from the new math and use the 100 from the other system and come out even better! Or some people say freeze your head. Then you could replace 100 with “infinity” in the above formulas.

My Birthday celebration actually started on July 21st with an EPIC party. We had a live 80’s band and around 100 firends, family, employees and neighbors. Several unicyclists made the trek to bring in my 40th Birthday. The Drummonds, ReidJ, and Jay Marsh.
The band was amazing, it was great to be able to have so many people that I get to see far to infrequently. Good food, beer, Margaritas… just a great time in general.
Then on Saturday night Jeffrey(aka Munipsycho) invited us out for seafood. So even though he and his family weren’t able to make it to the big party I was able to see them on my Birthday. They came over for a little cake and ice cream to cap off the night.
I got a real cool book from my wife that is a collection of several of my uni photos over the years. She put it together and had it bound by shutterfly. If you have never done this it is a great gift for someone. It is also pretty reasonable. It allows you to take boring pictures and turn them into an interesting story. She has done three of these, and everyone that has one or has seen them loves them.

Nah, just look to Harper to determine wether to fear getting older. He’s much older and still kicking a$$. Most of the unicyclists in my new age group are older, and all of them will kill me in the NAUCC next year.
