Hey JD,

This week, the script that gets the news from the webdiscuss newsgroup
here hasn’t been able to connect to your server.

Here is the message the script gives: Unable to connect to
news.webdiscuss.com at /path/to/my/script.pl line 262. Connecting to
news.webdiscuss.com…

I tried pinging it from my server and got nothing. Pings worked from other
places. Do you have my IP blocked (216.234.186.14)?

Nope… I just tried it. Slight problem is that the script dies when it
can’t connect to the server, so my other newsgroups from a different
server don’t load either, so I have to disable the WD newsgroups so that
they will load.

I ran it from another server with no problem. Loaded all the messages from
the past week.

The script was set up to update the forums every 10 mintues… I’m
guessing JD is denying access for my server to connect, probably because
it might be overloading the server or something (shouldn’t be any more
than a person reading the newsgroups that has a newsreader checking for
new messages every so often). In any case, I am waiting for a response
from JD before setting up a cron job to do it every so often.
