Water resistant, inexpensive, HD Video Recorder?

I have a good camcorder I never use. I have a very good camera that I use on occassion, but hesitate to take it riding as it is not water proof.

So my birthday is coming up and my wife wanted ideas…so I thought, how about one of the newer breed of inexpensive water resistant, HD video recorders?

I was looking at this one: Samsung W 300

I’d be using it for stills as well, so I wonder if it’ll be good enough.

And yeah, I could just get a Hero 2, but that’s twice as much…

I love my hero 2 but my first camera was what you are looking at its a steal!!! id get one tomorrow if i needed one

That camera doesn’t look too great. It doesn’t appear to have a 60fps mode (good for slow motion), and the video quality seems pretty low. I’ve been using a Kodak Playsport Zx3 for more than a year now, and while the quality still isn’t incredible, it’s quite good. It also has a 60fps mode. You can find it for $75 or less on amazon. Kodak has newer models, but I’ve read that they have some issues.

Sadly, most pocket camcorders are not much good for taking photos. The cool thing about pocket camcorders is that you can get wide angle, fisheye, and zoom lenses on ebay for $10.
