Dear Fellow Riders,

Seeing the huge number of ‘hits’ and no replies, I wonder how many disappointed and confused dirty old men there are who typed ‘teen’ and ‘girls’ into their search engines…
More seriously, I’d suggest that any teenage girls reading this thread should NOT be e-mailing personal details or phone numbers to anyone they don’t know, or without parents’ permission.
Po faced, perhaps, but the internet is a funny place, and once you’ve posted something, it can be forwarded, intercepted, copied, and all sorts.
I’m looking for female unicyclists in Florida. Preferably 17-22 years of age. Thank you.
From a purely legal standpoint, you may want to raise the minimum age level to 18:D
well now that the ice has been broken.i wonder what ever happened to the “Asian Uni Gals” that posted in the news section? remember that?
Sorry, I’m going to be all grown up again:
I prefaced my own serious post with a flippant comment, partly to highlight the possible dangers on the internet. I get the impression that the first post on this thread was genuine, but I cannot recall ever seeing a post in this forum from ‘Anne’ before.
Assuming it to be genuine, I’m sure Anne would prefer her thread NOT to be highjacked by lewd badinage and laddish comments.
What would be good, though, would be if one or two of the well established and respected posters in this forum could vouch for the genuineness or otherwise of this request. John? Greg? I guess you two are the ‘grown ups’ on here (no offence ) Does this request for girls to forward details look like a genuine unicycle-related request?
I’m deadly serious here.
Mike
Mike,
If you found my post that far out of line, feel free to ask that it be removed. I will not be offended.
I was “deadly” joking with AccordNSX.

I remember that Anne the Pashley Princess has posted before though not often. Clicking on her name I found that she has posted 24 posts in total. I printed the original post to show to my teenage unicycling daughter without second thoughts. Maybe that was naive but I think this is a genuine case. In addition to John or Greg (as per Mikefule’s suggestion), David Stone could probably vote for her as Anne is a member of the Unatics of NYC.
On the newsgroup people can fake names and all, but on the forum you need a password to pass for someone else isn’t it?
Klaas Bil
Indeed. Also Anne has been a user since September 2001, so it’s not just a hit-and-run thing.
Phil
I figure I have some time to spare as far as getting to know them goes.
I don’t know if I’m old (44) or serious enough, but my icon should be recognizable. Anne is a member of the Unatics in very fine standing. I will verify by private email, though, that it is from her and repost.
That said, only parents should reply.

Yeah, Anne is about as upstanding a person as you can be. I’m not sure
what our club would be without her, but I know it wouldn’t be as much fun.
As to the rest of this debacle, I’m glad it came up because it shows how
concerned we can be about the welfare of our members and other readers. I
know I’ll appreciate anytime someone looks out for MY daughter.
But in this case, Anne’s request is totally legit.

Yes, it looks like a typical request from the press. Please call me long distance, at your own expense, as soon as possible.
Email is safer, of course. Use an anonymous account. That’s good general advice whenever contacting a total stranger.
I wonder if Julie Young is still a teenager? She got her picture in a similar magazine story a few years ago, because she was the only non-adult female I had any decent MUni pictures of.
I’m all for anything to help even up the sex ratio in this sport. Hello, girls from TCUC? You would definitely be the type of person a writer would be looking for…

Great pictures…especially the one in the middle of the second row. When I look close, the “kid” looks an awful lot like my son Brad…Well wadda ya know, it is.
hate to say it but,you broke the ice right there…
now that we’ve established that this is legit and suggested the best way for people to get in touch with the involved parties…
can we get back to the ladish comments?
Young one wheeled man seeks company to make his life complete. Must enjoy long rides along the beach, steep steps, crank grabs and be comfortable with riding three inches of width.
Call Samuel, 11 111111 or PM him.
Looks like one or two people may have misunderstood my intent.
I have no problem with laddish comments, and I make plenty of them myself.
That said, if Anne posted on a serious/practical point (as she clearly did) she might find it irritating if all the responses were of a laddish nature.
But my main point was a serious one: someone was asking for young girls to send their personal details to a stranger. I felt it was important to point out the possible pitfalls, and to ask for verification that the request was genuine.
That verification was given. At least one parent who responded has acknowledged that the verification was needed.
I had no intention of spoiling the party for anyone.
