Video/Presentation making Software for 2K?

I have been tasked to make a slide show for my sister’s wedding. I had grand plans to use Avid free DV and make a kick ass multimedia presentation on DVD and all that. BUT, Free DV only works on Win XP. I am using 2K now, and I have no intention to switch over for this one project. Any of you know another program (preferably free, or at least cheap) that I could use? The vast majority of the presentation will be still pics, but I would like some nifty effects.

powerpoint is surprisingly powerful. you can embed sound and video right into a presentation. i’ve put all that on a CD for presentations in school and it works quite well. not sure if that’s what you’re looking for or not…

Yea, if the majority of your content will be still photos, then I would definitely suggest trying PowerPoint. PP has tons of great transition effects, and (as mentioned by markf) you can add audio and video. By setting the slide timings, the presentation can be self-running…just start it, and sit back and watch the show!

However, by taking this route, you will need a computer to show the presentation, rather then just a DVD player. (PP can be put on DVD, but it requires expensive software).

And if you havn’t got PP and don’t want to buy it, try Impress which is free!
