Video Help

OK, this is a bit of an odd one. I am trying to record video from my computer onto a VCR Tape.

I have a Graphics card with Video out, and it is connected to the VCR with the s-video connection. I can get the sound to work, but I am not getting any image. The VCR can record my desktop find, but whenever I have a video playing I just get a black square instead of the video.

I suspect that this has something to do with the fps, size and format of the video, but I haven’t been able to find anything when searching the web (most guides show the other way).

Any help or tips are appreciated.

Thanks

James

Possibly a side-effect of using a video overlay method to play the video. Just guessing. The video overlay method puts a black box on the screen where the video will play and then the video is overlaid on that black box.

The VCR may just be recording the black box and not seeing what is being overlaid on the black box.

If you’re using Windows Media Player you can disable the video overlay method:
Tools >> Options… >> Performance tab >> Advanced… button

Other video players should have a similar option to disable the use of overlays.
