I’ve been trying to upload my vid to the site 4 ages, but it just won’t finish the little upload thing, ya know, the 2 PC’s with arrows in between. AARRRRRHHHHHHHH. It’s taking ages. This isn’t the first time, and i’ve done a couple of tester picks to see that it works, and they are now on the gallery as far as i know, but my vid just isn’t uploading. It’s quite a big file eg 13 mb, but i’ve given it a long time and its still not on. Anyone got any clever ideas? The vids already been compressed on divx and has had a decrease in quality. Any ideas Gilby?
FTP it to your unicyclist.com webspace and I’ll put in your gallery. I’ll also play around with the gallery to see what the problem may be as Harper had a similar problem uploading large video files.

After seeing those two pictures I’m eagerly waiting to see the video. Nice work! What unicycle are you riding?
Andrew Carter
problems playing vids
I am having a different video problem.
I can download and play the Andrew Carter and Potkin-Swing/Cohn vids but when I try to download and play Harper’s or Yooper’s vids I get an “unable to download appropriate de-commpressor” message and it only plays the audio.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Despite me REALLY wanting to watch them, yoopers vids have never worked for me either
I’m riding an Onza, and also a 26" nimbus with 110 cranks to make it more fun
Gilby, thanx for your advice, but i’ve tried to gain access to my webspace and it doesn’t want to work. Even if i got in there i’m not so sure how i’d FTP it to there. Oh well. I’ll keep trying, but any other advice for a computer illeterate one such as myself would be appreciated. Thanx
Try downloading Quicktime to view the vids with the .mov extension (such as Harper’s). That worked for me.
Jerry
It worked!
I guess you have to go to Apple to get Windows to work.
Harper’s *.mov files open right up.
For Yooper’s *.avi I had to right click and then “save target as” and then open from quicktime.
At last I can see the video instead of just listening to that deep voice!
OK, i’ve just downloaded an FTP program called Smart FTP, and i’ve got onto unicyclist.com on it under my username if you know what i mean. But, i try to transfer the video by going to open in a lower window and then opening the vid file, and then pressing start on the transfer window. But, it just says the connection is idle, and the file does not show up in the transfer box. If this means anything to anyone, could you tell me where i’m going wrong?
Thanx
Re: Video Ahhhhhhhhh
Try the following steps (assuming you’re running windows)
- Click the windows “Start” button
- Click programs
- Click MSDos prompt
- Type ‘ftp ftp.unicyclist.com’ and press enter
- Type your username and press enter
- Type your password and press enter
- Type ‘bin’ and press enter
- Type put ‘c:<wherever><yourvideo.avi>’ and press enter.
This should begin the transfer and you should get a message like this:
200 PORT command successful.
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for <yourvideo.avi>.
and when if finishes you’ll see this:
226 Transfer complete.
You can then type ‘exit’ and press enter. Then type ‘exit’ and enter again.
That’s all.
Note: In step 8 above you should replace <c:\whatever> and <yourvideo.avi>
with the appropriate location of your video.
If you prefer to do things the graphical way you can do this:
- Click start.
- Click run
- type ‘ftp://<your username>:<yourpassword>@ftp.unicyclist.com’ and press
enter - You can now drag-n-drop the video into the resulting window.
Not sure if this works on all versions of windows but it does on Win2k and
WinXP.
Hope this helps.
