Killing some time while I’m waiting to go ride MUni, I made this little video earlier today that demonstrates some fun ventriloquist illusions, including talking with your voice “out of sync”, the “muffled” voice effect, and a few up-close tongue twisters. Hope you enjoy!

So I have a question
Is it really hard to be good, or is this a skill you can learn in a few months?
Most anyone can learn the basic fundamentals of ventriloquism. How long it takes to master the art depends on the person, as some will just take to it more naturally than some, and others might have to work at it harder to achieve their goals. It takes the 3 p’s: Practice, patience and perseverance. 
I also made a little tutorial that goes over the basics of lip control, and how to produce the difficult letters without moving your lips.

It is a shame that with all the time you invest in creating your excellent videos, you don’t proofread your title sections more closely. Tounge? It distracts the viewer from an otherwise excellent piece of work.

Hey, Terry, you are absolutely brilliant.
You move your head and eyes, and use facial expressions while you are ventriloquizing that really give the impression that you are an interested listener rather than the speaker. This really enhances the illusion… way beyond your ability to not move your lips.
I make puppets, including mouth puppets, but have never thought of making a vent dummy. You have inspired me - I might give it a go.

Yeah, in person many years ago. It’s at the vent haven museum. I also met Jeff Dunham about 15 years ago, also Jay Johnson back stage at the Comedy & magic club, I performed on the same bill with Willy Tyler & Lester, and my favorite memory is having met Edgar Bergen in 1978; the last year of his brilliant life.
