Vegetarianism

I have been vegitarian for over 10 years. Vegan for about 2 in the middle. Tho I eat dairy now. However I buy farm fresh eggs, organic milk products.

Like has been said before, I Dont eat meat beacuse I dont want to support factory farming. Not only is is a huge horrible industry but the crap they pump into the animals is not ment to be eatin by us. If I needed to hunt to survive I would, 'specialy if I had a family to feed. In this day and age we dont need to eat meat to survive, we surely dont need meat full of hormones and such.

I dont eat very many of the faux meat, some are okay. I eat alot of soy products tho. Veggie burgers that are made to taste like veggies not fake meat. Tufo si good stuff. You can be a very healthy veggie head without eating fake meat that has been made to taste like meat. The good stuff is made to taste like veggies.

Needless to say, the credibility of the Center for Consumer Freedom, the organization behind the PETA Kills Animals campaign, does not directly affect the truth of the accusations against PETA. Nevertheless, the CCF has as its mission promoting freedom in consumer choice and opposing legislation and regulation that limits those choices. Yet it is funded by such companies as Coca Cola, Outback Steakhouse, and Tyson foods, all companies that have a strong interest in blocking such legislation and regulation. Which is to say that the CCF is not necessarily in the business of promoting the consumers best interest and can be legitimately accused of hypocrisy too.

proteins, proteins, proteins… i am Veg. i am proud and not willing to stop

I should add that medical conditions prevent me from eating soy/tofu, most fruits, tomatoes or anything with acid in it…

i dont eat chicken, i eat fish venison (homegrown) Beef and (Homegrown) pork…i see no problem with killing animals, they kill eachother, i basically live on deer meat because my grandfather owns a lotta land and is an avid hunter, venison is very lean and much better for you than beef…also i hate PETA, their so radical and their trying to ban guns which is in violation of an Amendment!

I somewhat agree. I don’t care if people want to save the animals, but don’t tell me what to do. I personally see nothing wrong with eating animals and I think that we have dominion over the animals. Therefore, we can eat them. The only thing I have an issue with, as far as dirty, cramped chicken cages goes, is that if they’re living in their own filth and being abused, you’re eating that dirty, abused chicken and putting whatever it had into your body when you consume it. Yuck! I should really think twice about Micky D’s and KFC…

Also, PETA isn’t thinking about other uses for guns other than hunting. Like protection. While there are a lot of misuses for guns in this country, I don’t want a few “bad apples” to ruin the bunch.

More than likely I’ve started a war with this post…

Ok, two questions. If ever there was a poster child for frankenfood, fish venison has to be it, no? Also, what kind of facility do fish venisons require? Or is fishes venison the proper plural?

Does it follow then that since animals don’t have dominion over us, they should never eat us? I mean seriously, why didn’t God create some way for us to be safe from being consumed by those over whom we have dominion?

funny guy…fish, venison

Why do animals eat other animals?

I’m going to avoid any “religious” argument on this forum. This was about me thinking of being a vegiterian. Not a “why Jesus is real” thread. The constant bickering on this forum about “religion” is annoying to me and since so many love it, I’m just staying out of it, but to be fair, I’ll answer because you did ask, but from now on I’m avoiding it. I was never a fan of Merry-go-rounds…

From my understanding, animals don’t intentionally kill humans. I don’t think any animal has a taste for “human” as opposed to any other meat out there. While I honestly can’t answer your question I can say that humans are far smarter than animals and have killed more than twice as many animals as opposed to vice versa. We don’t exceed in physical strength or in speed, but we do exceed mentally. The bible does say We are to eat meat. It doesn’t say we have to, but clearly points-out that it is not sinful for anyone to eat meat. It never turns around and gives the animal the “right-of-way”. While God clearly takes care of all He created, the human being is by far the most precious. Therefore, I’ve come to the conclusion that it isn’t wrong or sinful for me to eat meat and enjoy it. But I will not condemn anyone who live a veggie lifestyle because the Bible doesn’t condemn it, either. And I see no issues with it.

Ok, I’m done.

this is one of the most well thought out posts i have read on this forum

+1

I’m somewhat vegetarian. I think how most farmed animals are treated is horrible. But I have difficulty digesting soy products.

A lot of the meat I eat is out of convenience, also free-range grown meat is usually at least twice as expensive.

Most of what I eat is vegetarian though. I’m just too lazy to prepare all my own food and too broke to buy decent vegetarian food (usually much more expensive than cheap food w/ meat, the converse if I were to make it myself).

How? (besides nuts and oil).

I’ve tried to put on weight. It doesn’t really work for me.

Beer?

Well you’re in the wrong sport, if that’s your goal.

Sorry that I’ve been too lazy to read most of this thread (it’s late), but there’s way too many different points for me to comment on.

Ill just say that I think the animals are there for a reason. If they were not wanted for food, they wouldn’t live in the first place (they wouldn’t be bred by farmers, and I suppose there is a religious link here too). In other words; in the scenario that nobody ate meat because they did not like the death of animals (farmers have no reason to keep them), there would be no animals left to kill.

Plus, being a vegetarian is never going to stop farmers killing animals for food. Just like britain reducing pollution emission will barely effect the worldwide count…

I’m veggie.
I’ve been like this for about five or six years. I’m veggie because I’m against killing in general.
For me, I just lost my taste for meat and now I think it’s totally disgusting.
I know that that dosn’t work for some people… but if you cut your meat consumption half or something like that… it might work…

People don’t own the earth.

We just act like it…

Seriously, does that mean you can eat your kids?

I don’t think people are animals…

Shirley, you jest!

Well, we’re mammals right? They’re animals.

We belong to the earth. The earth does not belong to us.

I’m going to apologize in advance for calling you a big freakin’ idiot…
