VD (and no, I don't mean Venereal Disease)

Valentine’s Day: what are your plans? How do you feel about the holiday? Do you mind sharing your romantic ideas with other people who might use them to their benefit?

I’m going on a picnic with Sam (yes, my girlfriend Samantha shares my name :D) to this spot by Lake Bryan where we go to look at the stars sometimes. We’ve decided no gifts, but I might get her some 80% cocoa squares(she really likes DARK dark chocolate).

I ahve nothing planned. Ill probably watch movies, go out to dinner, luagh and have fun. So pretty much what I usually do.

I think the holiday is silly. I have no plans, unless I somehow manage to locate a female willing to share the holiday with me. I will not share my romantic ideas because I have none to share. haha

I think it’s a little silly, because it’s a little cliche to ONE day a year, (not to mention on the SAME day as every other person) shw how much you care for a person, but that’s why we’re keeping it small. Also, we do a good job (I think) of showing our feelings every day anyhow.

No GF -> no VD

Problem solved.

Nothing. Another over-rated holiday.

Commercialism…

I plan on crying myself to sleep. But not really.

I’ll probably sit alone in my room and sob, while shouting ‘woe is I’ for all to hear.

I’ll really probably just chill with other single friends that night.

Giggidy

yeah, that makes it easier lol.
I might just go to the cinema with a load of friends just for the hell of it lol.

Uh, that’s the basic idea.

That goes for you too, I guess. Holidays are what you make of them. Nobody makes you buy tons of stuff for Christmas, flowers for VD, etc.

February 13th is the 10th anniversary of my first date with Jacquie. So we planned the weekend, starting with the Napa Valley Wine Train. Then staying at a little cabin in Calistoga, a mud bath/massage (her idea), wandering and shopping, romantic dinner (location TBA) and a Sunday road Coker/recumbent ride in CA wine country.

Other years we keep it a lot more simple.

if you’re a bit cynical like me and my ex, go out one week later on the 21st, everything’s cheaper, all valentine’s stuff is on special offer by then and the cinemas and restaraunts aren’t crowded. The experience of laughing at people who are so cowered by society that they have to go out on the 14th is a very bonding experience.

This year, as every year, I will spend most of the day listening to Valentine’s day by Marilyn Manson, very romantic.

Good advice. But this year, due to the down economy it seems like everyone is clamoring to get any business so prices were surprisingly low and stuff wasn’t booked up!

[ACH!]But when you walk into Wal-Mart, you are bombarded by everything holiday. I’ve had it up to here`with that store…

That sounds fun. You enjoy that.

I love the day after cheap chocolate slaes!

My sweetie and I don’t like to support Hallmark holidays or the greedy capitalist pigs that try to cash in on 'em, so we’re keeping it simple.

We’re going to rent a boat, paddle out into the lake and have a basket lunch.

Then maybe I’ll whip out my shotgun and down some water fowl for dinner. We’ll see if the geese are looking plump.

Yeah. Especially the last part.

I don’t think I need to point out that nobody’s making you want into Wal-Mart either…

(Not to imply you won’t see the same thing at every other store)

i dont think anythings going to happen. All i know is that next day is my birthday, but the day before is probably going to be extremely saddening and depressive, seeing as how i’m single this VD so far.

sigh :frowning:

Remember what I said about going to have a picnic at the lake. Scratch it. I’m suddenly lacking a girlfriend.

And then the mailings you get from stores…You don’t even have to leave your house to be assailed with holidayishness.

Get one of these. It might cheer you up.
(It used to be $10. Supply and demand?)
