don’t feel bad, the snowboarders are too stoned on marijuana to even feel bad about it. they’re like laughing all the way back to the bong
John,
Do you mean they could get a job standing outside restaurants greeting people? Or a job for which they have no talent or ability, because they are Olympians? Something they didn’t train in?
Like the snowboarders could endorse the legal medical marijuana for its health benefits?
not this year, Phelps stole their stash and narc-ed on them
I was watching the four man bobsleigh last night. GB crashed out on that dangerous corner. It’s taken out about a third of the teams at some stage during the games . 95 mph, sliding upside down on ice, protected only by a helmet and a Spiderman suit. Crazy people.
Also watched the end of the women’s ski slalom - all the no hopers who were 10 - 20 seconds off the pace, and so happy just to say they’d finished the course and taken part. It was lovely to watch their joy. Sport doesn’t really matter, but it’s also provides some of the greatest moments.
Canada: Making the Olympics More Dangerous Than Ever!
The Vancouver Winter Olympics are over! For 44% of my life, they have been coming, and now it’s done. Weird.
So I’m very interested to hear what other peoples highlights and lows of this Olympics were! Please tell me:D
Here’s mine:
Highlight: Charles Hamelin winning the 500m short track race! I love short track, and that race was short track at it’s best. Hamelin had been having a tough Olympics, so it was great to see him succeed. Also, it was awesome how Francois-Louis Tremblay won bronze in the same race!
Low: The closing ceremonies. WTF. Gigantic beavers and moose? These Olympics were supposed to ‘reintroduce’ Canada to the world, and they played up every stereotype possible. It was a disgrace.
Sorry I missed that.
Not many highlights for GB, certainly.
Some good moments of sportsmanship in the games, including when the GB curling team sent down the wrong coloured stone, and the other team let them swap.
That was on the same night as the Dutch long track skater being disqualified for a technical infringement that would have made no difference to the outcome. (He was 4 seconds faster then the next person, but his foot passed the wrong side of the cone - without touching the ice.)
I watched the Hockey finals, I’m happy becasue Canad won! it was a great match, US team scored the egalisation point 24 seconds before the end of the game.
But on the over time, Canada was really better, they deserved the gold.
Looks like you’ve been celebrating the fact!
What you call weird, I call not being dead.
What would you have done? I liked the beavers, but that overall section of the show was definitely, uh, stereotypey.
Highlights for me:
Any athletes who managed to do their very best; especially the ones who did it under duress (injury, recently deceased parents, etc.). Also watching Short Track, and Board and Ski-Cross.
Lowlight:
The guy getting killed on day one. Yes, those sports are dangerous and these things are possible, but it still sucks.
Was that the guy who’s coach made a mistake and told him to go in the wrong lane? I thought he did the whole curve in the wrong lane? If so, and if it was the inner, the mistake would disqualify his time because he did a shorter distance. If he used the outer instead of the inner, I don’t see why it should have been a DQ.
As it was shown and reported on the night, it appeared that he should have been on the inside curve, but his skate passed on the wrong side of the cone at the start of the lane separation - but didn’t touch the ice.
If in fact his skate was the only bit of him in the correct lane, then it takes on a whole new complexion.
Ah, yes, it was his coach’s fault:

Just to be clear, I didn’t say it was bad, it’s just sort of feels weird.
I’m not sure what I would have done. I’m much more comfortable criticizing what someone’s done than doing it myself:D:p
But I definitely would have found a way to incorporate Kris Holm.
YES!! I knew there was something important that was missing. And he lives right down the street!
I was there on the field for both ceremonies (as one of the guys dressed in white), but they didn’t let me take my unicycle with me!!
They definitely should have had a giant inflatable Kris Holm in the closing! :).
If you had told us they have such distain for unicycles, we would have boycotted them!
they repeatedly refuse to recognize unicycling as an Olympic Event!
