UW with hands on slackrope

Couple of days ago the Swedish performer Reino was mentioned here who
would have ridden an Ultimate Wheel with his hands on a slackrope. There
would be a picture on a Swedish stamp.

A friend of mine who collects stamps was able to find it in his
collection, based on the sparse info given in this ng, and kindly scanned
it for me. I’ve put it up at www.xs4all.nl/~klaasbil/stamps.htm. Enjoy.

Beautiful! But not “supposedly.” As can be seen in the On One Wheel
Volume XVIII, Spring 1992 (I finally looked it up)! The stamp is based on
a photograph of Reino doing the feat, and both were pictured on that
issue’s inside cover for the Volume 6, No. 2 issue of the IUF’s
Unicycling Quarterly. Yes, back then the IUF had a newsletter inside the
On One Wheel.

But even these vintage newsletters should not be such a mystery. If you
can read English, you should subscribe to On One Wheel. Unicycling
Society of America membership is open to anyone, anywhere. Newsletter
content is mostly unique, and does not appear here on the ng, especially
the many pictures.

As USA President I don’t plug this enough. You should subscribe now! Go to
our membership page at: http://www.unicycling.org/usa/join/ On One Wheel
is cheap, especially if you live in the U.S. where we mail it bulk so
the membership is cost is even cheaper here. Not a member? Tell me what
the USA is lacking for you, and I’ll see what we can do about it.
