i do trials and i have a torker dx but it is kind of heavy… would anybody reccomend upgrading to the kris holm 06 20" because idk if its worth paying that much for a uni that is just like my torker… do you know if the kh uni is lighter? stronger? all that…
i have a DX too and it is quite heavy. you kind of get used to it. i would wait a long time till the DX breaks or something before upgrading, especially if its that expensive.
It is lighter and stronger, but dont worry about it.
The weight on the DX will only make you stronger, I can do everything the same on my DX just as fine as I can do them on my friends Bedford Hardcore uni. The lightness of his just makes the uni feel better to ride, but it doesnt make a difference in my performance.
Stronger? The KH wins again, but what are you doing on the DX? I constantly do 2-5 foot drops daily, and bigger if I can find something bigger to jump onto and off. I have broken my frame, but replaced it with a cheap Nimbus II frame. The 2007 model of the DX will have a reinforced frame so that shouldnt break anymore.
The hub and crankset of the DX are amazingly strong for the price, nothing is bent or creaking on mine and I have put it through tough use for about 7 months now, and the pinch-bolt design on them makes them stay on tight.
Stick with your DX for a while, its a great uni, and quit compatable.
If you brake the frame, get a NImbus II frame, cheap, 2 pounds, and strong. Break the hubs or cranks, go straight to KH or profiles, they will both fit. Break your seat, go upgrade to thompson and CF base. It will all fit the DX.
well its 400 (67 less then new and it has upgraded pedals) so idk if i should let this deal go and yea i did get used to my torker but when i go on my old uni that learned on i am amazed on how heavy the torker dx really is and i already been through a couple sets of cranks on my old uni because it is a piece of crap and i dont want to break it any more because i need it to teach people at the uni club i started at school and i like keeping my unis so i dont want to wait for my torker dx to break so i can save it for my brother to use some day
so weight isnt really an issue… hmm idk i thought i was having trouble jumping because it is so heavy… i did everything jerrick told me to do to jump higher and i have been doing it nonstop for a week or so and im still not getting too much higher:(
People will reach a point, where it seems like you just cant jump any higher or gap any farther, keep working at it, and you will get past that point, even if it means gaining about an inch higher within in one month.
Check your tire pressure, the compression and bounce you get form your tire really helps with jumping, but make sure its not low enough that you are bottoming out.
How well can you tuck? Are you really pulling on the handle and tucking as much as you can to get an extra few inches?
You can also start working out, before bed, and before taking a shower in the morning, do push-up, as many as you can until you cant do another, wait a few mins, and do more push-up until you are dead. Doing lunges with your legs will help too. You cant be a twig and expect to be able to lift you and the uni 3 feet in a jump, gotta have some meat on them bones!
Keep working on it, but just have fun while riding, if you get frustrated cause you cant get up something, try something else, come back to the higher stuff the next day. Practicing frustrated makes for a frustrating practice.
well i am going to start working out now i guess… hah all i do to stay in shape is uni but i will do more and i dont want to look for a good deal on a frame when i already found a good deal on a kh uni
Well, what you do is get two eights in each hand, just for extra weight for your legs to work with, or nothing. You stand with you legs and feet about shoulder length apart, arms hanging straight down and head looking foward.
Take a somewhat large step forward with one leg and bend down, almost having your knee of your back leg touch the ground. Hold this postion for a few seconds, and come back up to standing, now take a step with your other leg and repeat until you cant walk.
You can also do bicep curls at the same time you do a lunge and work out both arms and legs.
I would recommend you use proper grammar and spelling, and then figure out the difference between RSU and JC…people like to help people more when they don’t haave to study posts to figure out what they mean.
You’d be surprised. I’m not speaking for anyone else, but when I preview the threads, if the grammar/typing is bad on help threads, I rarely even open the thread
