I’m incredibly interested in doing this, as I’ve never been across the ocean before and would also like a reason to start training for touring distances.
I have no idea right now of the aspects of getting involved in something like this - I don’t even have a passport right now. Obviously you wouldn’t handle that part of it, I’d figure it out, but could I go ahead and express a realistic interest in the trip?
Email me through the Adventure Unicyclist website. I’ll put you on the mailing list.
In terms of requirements, you have to get yourself (and unicycle) to Tashkent on the 21 Oct 2013. Once there everything is taken care of- you just have to ride! It’s a supported unitour, so achievable for most unicyclists.
Accomodation, most meals and carting your gear are all provided. There is a support crew and support vehicles- people jump in them if they are struggling, or if they get injured/fall sick. We have regular rest stops where the unicyclists regroup. However, the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy it…nobody likes riding in the support bus.
Just a reminder if you are still interested in coming to Unistan. If you haven’t heard from me, it means you are not on the mailing list. Contact me via the Adventure Unicyclist: http://www.adventureunicyclist.com/contact/
I hope to finalise all the riders by the end of May, so please get in touch as soon as possible.
We’re only 6 months away from our most exotic unicycle tour yet. If you’re still thinking about coming, please contact me as soon as you can. We have over 10 riders registered. Here are some of their profiles: http://unistan.adventureunicyclist.com/riders/
Registrations are open until 1 June. After that any late entries will be dependent on accomodation/logistics, and we ask you to donate $100 to charity as a late fee (it helps us firm up numbers).
