Cyclists, I am not an avid video-gamer, but while paging through
Sundays paper, I spotted what appeared to be a unicycle. But a
unicycle, in a video game? Yup! Super Nintendo, or possibly an
associated company, (the ad didn’t specify,) has created a game called
“Uniracers” which has something to do with unicycles, beyond this
though, I know very little about the game; it does however have a very
artsy picture of a speeding unicycle on the cover. I have a Sega, and
this game will onlt (only) be released for the Super Nintendo system.
I for one am not willing to shell out mega bucks to play this game.
For this reason, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this
game, or has a Super Nintendo who would be willing to give it a try
when it becomes available. (In December) I want to know if it’s worth
my while, and money to rent a system, and game. ($15 U.S.) Actually,
$15 is a small price to pay for anything “unicycle related.”

Yes, we've known about it for a few months. The company contacted
us (I don't remember which "us": USA as an organization, USA
members, whatever) for unicyclists for a publicity shot for the US
release of the game.

Nintendo has contacted the USA for possible promotion of the game. As of now,
the promotion will be in Detroit, Dec 3 at some convention center. The Wood
One Wheelers from Ohio are scheduled to perform as well as a few of us from
Minnesota. We are still arguing over what compensation the individual
performers will get as well as USA. Since Nintendo is going to be using the
USA name for promotion we want to get something for it.
We also have a video tape of the game. We were not going to endorse the game
without making sure it wasn’t “kill the unicycler” or “unicycler with machine
gun”. The unicycle in the game is suprisingly realistic, for a game company. The
prerelease version we saw did not have any people in the game, only a unicycler
that speeds along a path. The game is aimed at a younger audience (that doesn’t
mean I won’t buy a copy). From talking to Nintendo, they are also marketing the
game in Japan, which has more unicyclists than the rest of the world combined.
When dates and places become definate, I will let you know the details.
