as well as the normal bits including calendar and buyers guide.

Cool.

Thatā€™s a crazy photo! Invisible wheel!

Itā€™s possible that two different flashes went off while the shutter was open, the one on the main camera, and another one off to the side somewhere. Very cool.

I think your supposition is correct. You can see another flash on the far left side of the photo, which looks like it could have illuminated the green rim.

I think youā€™re both wrong, and youā€™re not giving enough credit to Marcus Hahn for inventing a new trick. Isnā€™t it obvious that heā€™s found a way to flip the rim around on its own whilst leaving the tyre and tube in the frame.

It may sound hard, and goes against all we know about physics, but I predict that within a year or two everyone will be doing it!

ps yes, the new Uni magazine is great. Iā€™ve only had a chance to look at the photos so far, but it looks like a great read again.

I support this theory. Not like itā€™s the first time a unicyclist reinvents the laws of physics.

Yeah, thats exactly what happened! I was taking pictures from the same place and Mike showed me at least 3 pics where you could see other flashesā€¦ I only got one :stuck_out_tongue:

Canā€™t wait to get mine here  Lots of pics from EUCā€¦ I hope to be in at least one :stuck_out_tongue:

awesome

Welcome to the Stupid Club.

They donā€™t just let anyone join yā€™know.

Cool! I feel honoured. Iā€™m just like you and Rob now

The even bigger surprise was that this wasnā€™t the first thread to use that tag. But now I think about it, itā€™s amazing that so many others got away untagged

I donā€™t think that flash is the one lighting up the rim though. Itā€™s probably a little flash on a compact camera. My guess is someone to Mikeā€™s left with a decent amount of flash power (or closer) lit that part up.

Itā€™s not uncommon to have other flashes show up in your photos, because flash is relatively instantaneous, while the shutter is open many times longer than that.

My guess is that the flash is coming from the illegal test of a thermonuclear device in Pakistan. It just happened at the exact instant that the wheel was rotated as shown about the frame axis.

Sounds great - canā€™t wait to see it. Thanks for posting Roger. And when it comes to theories about optical illusions and such, just donā€™t listen to Harper and youā€™ll be fine.

looks great. could be ficken great photo shop editing is well lol.

Thanks for posting this Roger!
Iā€™m back from honeymoon and can reveal the set-upā€¦
Two off-camera flashes and as rightly guessed, someone elseā€™s flash across the room which gave the double flash image. weā€™ve done no photoshop work whatsoever to the shot which makes it even better - we did consider some ā€˜cleaningā€™ around the edges but decided on a ā€˜purerā€™ shot.

ā€œHoneymoonā€? Congratulations Mike and the new Mrs. Penton!

Yes, congratulations Mike!

The Uni Magazines for the UDC in the USA hit customs on Wednesday. Not sure, but that may be how they arrive for all US subscribers?

Thanks guys
I forgot to mention that the shutter speed was a ridiculously slow 1/60th, increasing the chance of catching someone elseā€™s flash.

And the non-UK deliveries were sent in the mail directly from the UK, but avoiding the Royal Mail which has been in chaos for months - some US readers may get their copies before the UK!!! I know that copies have reached the Netherlands alreadyā€¦

I got mine a couple of days ago (Denmark).

Best regards
Sanne
