Unigeezer more popular than KH

I was just on the UDC site and according to their latest survey Terry Patterson is the most popular unicyclist closely followed by Kris Holm. I won’t tell how I voted:)

Unigeezer is awesome! KH has been doing this forever though… hard to argue with history:

But is he more popular than Paul McCartney?

He’s got more swagger, that’s for sure.

Who’s the Ringo Starr of unicycling?

I hope he can live up to the hype.

Hey UniSpud
I love that piccy that’s below your name. Neat!

Also have to admit I giggled at the thought of a brain fart

Don’t ask me to decide between the two guys, they’re both super awesome :sunglasses:

I guess one spends more time on self promotion, and the other spends more time promoting unicyling.
I leave it to others to decide which.

If you search Youtube for unicycling, Unigeezer has hundreds of videos, whereas KH has maybe 5 (And most of those are interviews, not riding videos!), of course Unigeezer is more popular, he’s far more discoverable

You’re probably not going to find out about KH until you start looking at buying ‘one of those expensive uni’s’ and seeing his name on it. At least that’s how I learned of him…

I’m assuming you meant to say Terry Peterson?

YouTube is one video site.

Searching “Unigeezer” on Vimeo yields 4 results, and searching “Kris Holm” yields 176 (without quotes, 216). Granted, many under the Kris Holm banner are of others riding Kris Holm unicycles. Max Schulze comes up a lot. Spencer Hochberg is in there. George and Kris Peck show up too along with Gracie Sorbello and Matt Burney.

The argument of one being more popular in a poll without random sampling is easy to determine. Going beyond that is much more difficult.

My takeaway was that it is cool to be involved in a sport where a regular guy with the dedication to ride every day and a you tube problem can advance the sport by making advanced skills seem attainable. That said I am greatful that guys like KH and Roger Davies continually strive to bring us the best gear so that we can’t blame the equipment. And I do love watching guys like Max Shultze for the amazement of what is possible.

Roger Davies got my vote. George Peck would be a close second.

My biggest uni-idols are Kris and George, who are the pioneers of the sport I love so much, and they continue to inspire me daily. One of the most rewarding things for me since the beginning, has been seeing so many new riders join our uni community, and watching their progress. Especially love hearing from so many people who want to get into the sport, and make it a priority to help in any way I can. When first joined unicyclist.com, back in late '05, (as terrybigwheel) we had about 8,000 members. Today that number has exploded to more than 100,000! So I am very happy to do my part to get the word out, as so many of us do every day!

Actually Terry has been doing this longer than Kris. I think he learned in the 70s no? But he probably took a long break, while Kris has not.

Yes, a very long break! I first learned to ride at about age 11, back in the mid 60’s. After nearly 4 decades I started again, in late '05. Sure wish I hadn’t stopped, but as they say, better late than never! I can definitely say, without reservation, that the last 8 years have been some of the best of my life. And it’s a sobering thought that I’m old enough to be Kris’s dad! :o

I learned in the early eighties. When seats were errr uncomfortable, which is why I stopped.

Did Kris revolutionize saddles, or did someone make comfortable ones after the eighties but before Kris made his own equipment?

I think the Miyata saddles were a popular upgrade from the more “banana” shaped saddles from the 60’s and 70’s. For me, it was the kh fusion freeride that was the first comfortable saddle I ever tried, and still have several.
