Eeee, and it was good. Work is right next to a school, so I got lots of strange looks as I tottered past. Now the people in my office want a go!
I went shopping on it yesterday, too; I think it’s a definite sign of slowly improving when you go back “the long way” down some little off-road paths and just give little things a try rather than just thinking ‘eek, I can’t get up that’. Which was good.
But the best thing… in the supermarket car park a man in a Reliant Robin drove past, very slowly, looking at me with a funny look on his face. I was just wondering which silly comment he was about to say when he just said “touché” and drove off. That’s by far the most amusing comment I’ve had so far! I was chortling all the way home.

Don’t you just wish he’d said “you’ve lost a wheel” though?
i to rode to work today. one person i work with said, “thats cool” and
thats it. I was very dissapointed. guess people just arnt ready to comment
at 8 in the morning.
I rode to the bank yesterday and as I was locking up my semi-cycle XL a dude came up to me and said the oldy but goody, "where’s the over half’. Without a moments hesitation I cooly stated, “my grandma is riding it”. He got a good laugh and so did I…of course later, not in front of him.
Last weekend my wife and I went to the store to pick out a movie, but I forgot my lock so I just pushed it through the store. I was great, no one even cared I had it in there.
Has anyone else had luck taking their uni into stores, movie theators, ect…?
i’ve taken mine into shops when i pop in to get something to drink while out riding along
havent had too many comments, mainly get those while riding in the park
ppl dont seem to mind u walking along pushing a uni
they’re all pushing big four-wheeled clunking shopping trolleys, it would be pretty rich for them to complain!
I quite regularly take mine to the supermarket; if you raise the seat a bit you can hang it from the seat on the handrail of the trolley and just push the trolley round as if it wasn’t there.

Hi
I rode into work today as well. I probably need a bigger wheel as it is
6km’s and I have been doing it on a 20". I didn’t get many strange
looks/comments either way, I think that most people are afraid to say
anything due to “society” dictating that you ignore other people when out
and about.
As far as taking it into store etc I have never had a problem, I usually
ride down the street to buy a few things at the shops. I haven’t tried
taking it to the movies though.
we also seem to ‘have to’ ignore ppl when they r engaged in something slightly out the ordinary
in my professional life i see an interesting reversal of this trend
i work as a radio-presenter on a retail radio station and our studios r located at the corporate head office
for a variety of reasons i’m yet to figure out, a majority of ppl r hesitant about approaching or talking to radio presenters outside of the well publisized ‘public appearance’ scenario
so, i find ppl making strange comments when they encounter me doing something disturbingly normal, like making coffee
that will suddenly appear to them as the ideal conversationstarting opportunity
i’ve been mildly amused and thoroughly puzzled by this phenomenon for about 7 years now
i live about 3o km’s from work
dont think i’ll be riding in anytime soon

never had a problem with it. I actualy use it as my main form of local
trasportation for this reason. nobody has ever cared no matter where i take
it (besides one of subway lines here in boston). highly recomend taking it
with you.

I was kicked out of the supermarket at Whistler, BC for having one. I couldn’t believe it! It was a little 20" unicycle, its freakin’ Whistler BC, and they all have shopping carts. Amazing… haha.
i got kicked outta an Albertson’s once. i rode it to the door, dismounted, and pushed it to the drink isle to get a gatorade. the manager came and said i had to leave if i had it, it was “disturbing customers” (commie bastard)
but on the upside, he didn’t let me pay for the gatorade, and he just pushed me outta the store whilst i held it in my hand.
