Who’s up for a unicycler location database? I think it would be a good Idea, if we show enough support maybe gilby would do it, i’d be easy to code too, just put in a special location option in everyones profile forum, if they input the data for there location, country, state, providence, city, whatever, then it will be added to a xml database, which can be called using javascript, for your personalized search quireys, come on gilby, we want! Well atleast I want.
i want also
Chase
there is one already…
But i dont remember the name.
Something where you don’t have to scan down the entire list would be handy.
I keep looking at the Google Maps API and thinking Hmmmm…
Phil
Yeah, but you have to register for that n all, there’s 13 in holland according to that thing, but there are quite alot more in fact.
I’m in for it too, it would be awsome I didn’t just say awsome…
Re: Unicylist locator
Well… I was!
Play around here. It’s zoom’able.
That map would be dynamic and get red dots for each unicyclist.
On the other hand… consider the bad effects, and not in the least place: inter-national laws.
Then come to the conclusion that a roster is fine, but an exact locater not really desired.
A good and quick form to get into contact quick would be usefull.
The db is getting old (and slowly outdated).
Also it could use an entry for Skype.
I’d be up for it as well, just make a consent form that makes the user agree to certain terms, IE: Older than X-age and other junk.
If you want any help, lemme know. Too often have there been riders living nearby and I have been unable to contact them.
I dunno I was thinking of something a little simpler then using google maps ^^ I mean it wouldn’t even need address, in america, for example, it wouldl just be a forum that would submit name/city/state/ and maybe a few random things like ridding style, just add these to a database, (I’d use xml but i’m sure there is something easier/more efficient) then just use another form to fetch the data based on the inquires you want to specify. Like you could just do all of newyork if you really wanted to, or specify cities, or just do all unicyclist in america that ride trials. It would be pretty simple. No need to look over google maps API ^^
Those search extra limiting parameters is no problem i.c.m. with an map-interface.
Actually it’s the reason I came up with it.
you live in a country like Luxemburg, Monaco, Andorra or Lichtenstein… and you want to find riders within 100 miles from you…
or
you live in the north of California and want to find riders within 40 mile from you…
I’ll agree to anything Leo says coz Vandewoestijne is one hell of a leet last name. Oh and err, yes. Have a nice day.
