unicycling video footage

I wondered if folks here on the list who have have recorded unicycling events of
interest to the newcomers (like me!) would be willing to let others view them.
Anyone who would care to make a copy of some good stuff and mail it to me would
receive a blank videotape in return and reimbursement for postage. Send email to
d.kathrens@genie.geis.com if interested.

If there were sufficient interest, we could even collaborate on a videotape to
chain mail to each member in turn who wished to view it. Those of us with access
to a video camera could add their own performances or a short personal hello.
This should be non-copyrighted material, of course, so those who wish may make a
copy for their video libraries.

I realize that we have readers here who use NTSC and PAL, two incompatible video
formats. I know a British unicycling friend working in Michigan who owns a PAL
VCR and would probably be quite willing to copy PAL tape to NTSC & vice-versa…

My self-interest should be evident: I am stuck in the boonies and have no
exposure to other unicyclists. Having video footage to study would be wonderful.

This is being sent to the list, rather than Dennis directly, because it may be
of interest to others on the list.

I have two good tapes from Japan. The narration is in Japanese, but the
unicycling in it knows no language barriers and some of it is excellent. The
first tape is about UNICON III and the second tape is about a syncronized
unicycling competition held in 1989 in Japan. These tapes are both 2 hrs long. I
also have a 1 hr tape of UNICON V highlights which includes some very good
footage of the Coasting Contest.

I will send copies of any of these three tapes to members of the unicycling
list. Send e-mail to <kfuchs@winternet.com> for details.

The IUF Achievement Skill Levels tape may also be of interest. It is available
from the Unicycling Society of America, Inc. for $23.50
(U.S.) or $32.00 (foreign) including shipping and handling. Write to:

Unicycling Society of America, Inc.
U.T. Box 40534 Redford, MI 48240

Thanks for pursuing this idea, Dennis. Hope others like it as well.

Stay on Top,

Ken Fuchs (kfuchs@winternet.com)

Unless you’ve got a standards converter, playing one VCR to another won’t work.

There are shops that will convert stuff for a price though.

Alternatively, you may find that your VCR plays both formats anyway, I know
mine does.
