I’ve only tried this once, but it was when I was just starting to learn to unicycle. It’s a lot harder than it may seem when you’re hopping on a unicycle on a full size trampoline because instead of doing little hops to correct your balance you really have to do some reasonably long still-stands while trying to make the trampoline bounce you into the air. It’s really fun. Has anyone else ever tried this? It’d be fun on one of those little fitness trampolines too.
I’ve done it a couple of times but without much success. I think in universe there is a tiny bit where Adam Ryznar is shown pedalling in the air and looks allot like he was jumping on a trampoline.
From my experiance, trampoline riding is really hard. I’m a half decent hopper, and I can almost do nothing on a trampoline. The really hard part is just getting on your uni when you are on the trampoline. After that all I can do is ride around the edge a few times. Jumping if incredibly hard!
The gymnastics-type trampoline in that picture had a surface so grippy it was impossible to ride on, as the wheel wouldn’t steer at all. Only hopping worked. Back yard trampolines of today are easier to steer on, but are generally a lot more mushy, so they’re a lot harder to get bouncing on than the one above.
I have tried it a couple of times on my trampoline. Like stated above, the hardest part is getting on the unicycle. You can forget about mounting it the typical way. You have to jump onto it if you have any hopes of riding. Riding is weird…I’d imagine it feels something like riding in sand. Hopping is really difficult. It is nearly impossible to come to a stop and then begin hopping. I would set myself up in the center of the trampoline, then jump onto the uni and immediately begin hopping. But it isn’t like hopping on the ground of course. You have to jump really slow, as you would without the unicycle. It’s an interesting experience, you should try it.
Last friday I did an opening-show on an event for a bunch of hunchos (former and current ministers and other celebrities that participate in sport politics) and press, where also this trampoline jumper was. But unfortunely in 320x240 pixels it hardly looks that high like it was in reality.
