Unicycling in an Opera

Hey just wondering if anyone has done this before?

I am singing in an Opera this year and the composer (who we did an opera with the last 2 years) has put in a specific part for a unicycle near the start, i just come on a ride a bit and then go on with the scene, but with the uni onstage,

Ive seen unicycles in Musicals but never in a ‘classical’ opera

Dan

What opera is this? I would love to be able to watch it. Or is it an original composition that your composser made and no one really knows of?

I have never heard of anyone doing it before, so you may be the first. I also didnt know that you sang? Time for the fact lol

The Opera is by David Griffiths, its called ‘The White Lady’

It was written over the past summer and we are doing the world premiere of it.

I am singing in the chorus as well as a couple of solo lines,

Dan

That is extremely awesome!

I wonder how many unicyclist here are into opera and other classical arts?

That would be an interesting one

The opera is set in modern Auckland, NZ and is very kiwi, with kiwi slang etc

Opera is great fun, though it would help if i knew what those itailian people were saying lol

Dan

Beethoven, genius that he was, wanted to include a unicycle in Fidelio.

Alas it hadn’t been invented yet.
