I just got back from the first annual Christian Juggling Convention. The focus was about using juggling performance in ministry. Unicycling could be used in ministry as well. Here’s a short “non-preachy” video from the trip:
…so how many Christians can you juggle? Infants or adults? Can you pass Christians, too?
It’s time Christians, and all other non-Pastafarians recognize that there is only one true god.
Here is irrefutable evidence on the existence of the FSM
although off topic…i would sig this…but i think it would piss off a few people(including myself) when reading the fora
wow, i have no comments whatsoever in this thread… you guys really need to grow up though.
p.s. you can’t sig that much anyways.
I tried that once, it was highly overrated.
…up until now. I’m pretty sure your post counts as at least one.
Well, in my definition of “unicycling for christ” it is, in a way just unicycling, but as you ride, you thank God for giving you this talent that all other people envy! (especially clowns, I mean, have you ever SEEN a clown who can ride a uni?"
That video link looked like it was from the Christian Stripper Pole Convention !EEK!
This whole thread was taken from similar threads in strippergirl.com, where sex workers all talk about using stripping in ministry
Sex Workers for Christ!!!
Complete and utter disrespect, Billy. Your statements are something I would expect out of our 13-year-old crowd. I would assume you would be more mature than that.
+5 to yoopers.
-6 to yoopers, everyone has their own opinion, and freedom of speach, and sometimes slander depending on the situation. You come out -1 with skrobo’s +5.
Precisely!!! No one has to show respect for anyone’s beliefs in this world, they just have to respect the right of one to believe as they wish no matter how absurd those beliefs may be.
As for the comment about strippers for Jeebus, I find it quite to the point. People will claim that anything they do is being done for their particular deity no matter how much that activity or action may actually go against what their personal religious text may say. What I find distasteful is the fact that these people use their particular form of entertainment to try and proselytize and get people into the fold, so to speak, rather than simply sharing their skills (yes, these are skills attained through practice and not gifts) with others and not trying to push an alternate agenda. Personally, whenever someone tries to turn a skills demo, sport or activity into an excuse to push their religion on others, it automatically degrades whatever they are doing and becomes a complete turnoff. No matter how skilled they may be, the only thing that sticks in my mind is that they are a jerk with an anterior motive that did not need to be put into that particular context in the first place.
So you are saying Yoopers doesn’t have to show respect for Billy’s beliefs, right?
Selective quoting does nothing for your case. Beliefs do not have to be respected, just the right to believe as the individual chooses. If the belief system that a person holds is absurd, and all religions are, then it is unreasonable to tell someone that they must respect that set of beliefs. If one chooses to make their belief system public, they must be prepared to have that belief system put under scrutiny, provide empirical evidence to support those beliefs and when they are unable to do so, have those same beliefs scrutinized further. If their faith is so tentative that having their beliefs put under the microscope puts it in jeopardy then ultimately their beliefs were not as solid or fact based as they thought in the first place.
What it all comes down to is the fact that laws that protect one’s right to believe as they wish do not protect the believer from having their beliefs challenged or questioned and do not force those with different beliefs or positions about the nature of reality to respect any particular believer’s chosen system of superstition.
Hey, I believe in geometry, but I don’t have any empirical evidence that a perfect circle really exists.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t a circle just a definition? It’s kind of irrelevant whether or not a perfect circle exists.
ETA: I also just noticed that you butchered the original quote, so even if your analogy was valid, it carries no weight.
Sooo…
you seem to be saying that stripper girls for jesus are a complete turn-off, and they are degrading stripper girl skills.
whereas stripping as a pure skills demo or activity is better?
Bruce, where do you stand on this issue? What’s your preference?
Billy
Why in the world would you assume that, Bruce?
Yeah, I do find fundies doing any activity to be a complete turn off. Thankfully, I’m married to a good atheist woman or I would be in trouble as I live in the bibble belt. Nothing is a bigger turn-off than see that cross on a nice set of hooters!
I have no problem with strippers as there is nothing dirty or sinful about the human body, in fact I like it very much when we are talking about members of the opposite sex.
Heck some of those girls do have natural talent as well as skills to boot.
