Unicycling courses /workshops/riders in Surrey, England?

Hi,

Having recently learned to ride (forwards, free mount, idle), I feel that I need
to expand my unicycling horizons by meeting with other uni’ers.

I’m in the Farnham/Guildford area of Surrey, UK - are there any other riders in
the area who would be interested in meeting up for a session or two, or does
anyone know of any workshops etc. held in the Surrey/West London area?

One other thing - my employers have generously introduced a scheme where each
employee is allocated a learning budget of 150 pounds which can be spent as you
like. So…is there anywhere in the UK which does short
(e.g.2-3 days) courses in unicyling skills? (I’ve already tried The Circus
Space, and they don’t do anything).

Any info would be most welcome,

Thanks,

Mick

Keep your eyes on his NG, I have plans for a few uni hock sessions in the summer
in south Reading. Hockey is an exellent way to improve your uni fluencey, having
something else to think about - where the game is going- helps your uni riding
to become automatic rather than needing high concentration the whole time.

Sound like you got an offer there to pay your convention fee, buy a T-shirt and
sort out some accomadation for the British Unicycle Convention in September (
N.Wales) of maybe EuroCycle in July ( Denmark) if you can’t wait that long. The
BUC is a good chance to get tips and practise in in loads o f different aspects
of our sport, from tricks and arty stuff to mud pluging or hockey. What ever
takes your fancy and can be done on one wheel. I have forgotten their web
address maybe Roger or Ali can remind us all.

Good luck sarah

I’m in Leatherhead. I’d be quite happy to meet somewhere Guildford ish. I’m
not terribly good though - all these reports of the Ridgeway end-end and back
in a weekend are way out of my league. (Reports of the BMW with courses
measured in miles! I might manage a mile or maybe two, but not a lot more
than that, I think).

Sarah, thanks for reminding me that I haven’t told everyone about this,

http://web.onyxnet.co.uk/Roger.Davies-octacon.co.uk/buc6.htm

The date is 4/5 September Venue is North Wales It should be quite fun (well they
always are), it is in the new circus school there. They have a hall that we have
exclusive and 24 hours access. There is accomadation as well, camping close by,
we get to play with all their toys - I understand that they have a full harness
for the trapeze, so if you want to some really radical stuff we have the safety
gear (Russell, do you want to try stilts on your giraffe again?). We have
provisionally organized the hockey, games, a pub crawl, treasure hunt and
general fun (that bit is compulsory).

If anyone wants to know anymore just call mail me.

Cheers

Roger
