The only thing I hate about unicycling, well, two things, is not unicycling and not knowing/having someone to unicycle with. I own three unicycles and none of my friends want to learn, they’re a bunch of cowards I tell ya! I wish I had a unicycling buddy, man, this sucks! bweh!
If you come to Hawaii, I’d ride with you. I’m always looking for people to ride with also.
Daniel
HEY!
I’ll be going to Hawai’i next summer, for my senior trip. So yeah, uh, we should unicycle, YAY! HAHAHAH!
If you want to unicycle with others, start a club. We did it here in Memphis and the results have been amazing. After about a year we had a core of about 20 - 25 riders and fifty on our e-mailing list. We have at least two rides a week and often four. If it can be done in Memphis it can be done just about anywhere. So, if you’re in a small town, look around at what other small town clubs or rural area clubs have been able to do. If you want uni-compaionship you might have to farm it.
There is a group of club folks, including myself, that can coach you toward building a club and your igroup of riding buddies.

It sounds like what you need are new friends. Have you ever ridden at school? Whenever you ride with groups of people around, it seems like you find people who know how to ride, usually the people you’d never expect. BTW, which city are you from? There seems to be a number of unicyclists from Northern Cali, amd since it is such a SMALL PLACE, you should be able to contact them relatively easily. Or not.
good ol’ Woodland CA, it’s surrounded by Sacramento, Davis, Esparto, Yolo, and some other’s. It used to be small, but it’s getting big now, can’t wait till we get our first sky scraper, HAHAHAHAHAH!! But, yeah, a club would be great, but is it cool that I’m 17? (turnin 18 on Dec. 18, YAY!:D) And I won’t be able to ride around groups at school until next month (september).
I’ve ridden my 20" in many anti-war protests and marches of about 500,000 people in San Francisco and each time I see about five people saying “Hey! I can ride that!” and then proving it. I also have a neighbor who has an old schwinn 6 footer, although he no longer rides. I’ve also heard that there’s someone in my neighbourhood who’s been riding for about 6 weeks. I was also offered a 10 ft. girrafe by a friend and recently found out there’s a group of about 10 who play unicycle basketball in Berkley (For any rider in the bay area who wants to join it’s at 6 p.m. on wendsdays at berkley high on channing way it’s very informal-just come… The Tinkers Workshop-also on channing sees a couple of riders come through there pretty regularly). All you have to do is ride throughout your city(preferablly during marches or gatherings) for a while and you’re bound to find someone. People are awfully social if you’re on one wheel. Or if you’re really desperate buy a shiny new unicycle and offer it to a close friend if they’ll learn to ride and then ride with you. I’ve only been riding for about 2 years and look what sucess I’ve had.
P.S. I’ve heard about a muni group in the Sacramento area, you can probably find them on the net.
Try the unicycling.org roster, there are tons of people on it. There must be one or two near your hometown.
Also, try riding around downtown or something. You’ll create a crowd with at least oen or two people who want to learn to ride. You can teach them.
Yes, definately start a club!
My Unicycle Club will be up and running by October or November this year. I’ll be posting some details here soon sometime this month or September. Yes definatley start a club as Andrew said.

I don’t about about the parents in Australia…using the children’s shoe money to buy unicycles?!?
All I got were damn shoes. (I did get Darth Vader shoes once though)
You should seriously try riding barefooted for freestyle…I find it much much better.
i had that probelm too…
i used to have the probelm of being a lonley unicyclist but i descovered a club 1/2 hour away from me! lucky no unicyclists in my town though but i don’t really mind i quite enjoy riding alone
I can’t drive anymore, I had an accident and had my insurance cancelled, . I can’t get insurance until I get a job, I can’t get a job… waaaaaaaaaaaahhh!!! Oh-well, I have my uni… wait, HEY! COME BACK YOU ONE WHEELED LITTLE…!!!
