Unicycling Article in Minneapolis StarTribune

There is an article on unicycling on page E6 in the Variety section of the big newspaper here in the Twin Cities, looks like it’s a syndicated article that is mostly about the New York club and mentions briefly about where unicycling is today.

You can catch it online at

Re: Unicycling Article in Minneapolis StarTribune

“Drummond estimates that there are 1 million unicyclists in the United
States…”

Holy cats. No kidding?

Unicycle Quidditch?

Holy cats to that!

If anybody has pictures of that…that, I would love to see.

This is the number I have used also. I don’t remember where I got it. But
that’s less than 1% of the population, so I think it’s fair. Mind you, most
of these unicyclists are “dormant” or “closet” riders. Dormant is somebody
who learned to ride at some point, but doesn’t anymore. Like John Drummond
before 1999. A closet rider is someone who maybe does it every once in a
while, but their friends and coworkers don’t know about it.

They’re everywhere…
