unicycling alone

i started to unicylce last christmas and have yet to meet another unicyclist. i was wondering what people think about progressing in unicycling, does anyone think unicycling with someone else helps you improve quicker or does a personal drive act just the same?

Riding with someone else helps me advance much quicker - mostly because of the competition to learn things before the other. I mean, we claim to not be competing, but it’s only natural that it happens anyway.

Man i unicycle alone and i am coming along nicely

and slowly :frowning:

I’m also unicycling alone, because I don’t know of any other unicyclists on the island.
Practicing with other people generally speeds you up in two ways: passive learning and competition. Passive learning is learning by observation. You know what competition is.
I find that watching a lot of technical vids helps me with both. After watching the Defect trailer - Dan Heaton jumped off that six-set backwards, surely I can do it forwards.

i got into it because of friends and seeing what could be done and having people to learn from, i progressed quickly
riding with people who are better than you learn from them, people who are the same skill level as you give you competition help you become better faster because you have motivation to become better, and riding alone you land new stuff because you can truly focus on your riding

i used to ride alone i now have friend who rides ,
it took me 3 monthes to learn to unispin, after seeing me unispin
he learns 20 days

I can ride with 3 different people haha to you all lol. Im alos geting my lil bro into it. dunno fo this os good r bad.
soz bout the typing its quick in my IT lesson:D

We are competing. And I’m better.

Yet another thing that makes me learn faster.

i have generaly learned each trick i try within a month and have learn tons of tricks but dont find it that amusing to do such things alone.

Unicycling with others can also be a disadvantage in develloping things by yourself, and having your own creativity. On the other hand others around you can come up with good tips and inspiration as well.
But I think if you learn to learn, and learn stuff all by yourself you learn better than when others should explain over and over again what you’re doing wrong. So my advice; take conculsions from your own mistakes, eleminate them by using your own brain, and you can learn all you want in no-time. Self-dicipline and motivation are more important factors for progress than having others around.

Same:( , hope there is another a LUM soon

I think it depends how social you are. I am quite happy with my own company and happier to do things by myself. So I almost always unicycle alone. However, I have found that it helps to meet up with people now and again, at meets or conventions. I have been inspired by unicycling occasionally with others.
