Whilst riding today I was in conversation with someone walking his dalmation. He has rather more of a problem than we do with “Where is your other wheel?”
His problem, apparently oft repeated, is " Where are the other hundred?" I heard two people say that this morning, and another who said: “Just brought the one?”
I guess that for many activities there are the stock questions…and probably stock replies too.
When I see my first Canadian canoeist on the Mersy, I shall be sorely tempted to ask him in which creek he left his other paddle.
I was out today and got chatting to a youth group leader who explained that the group of young kids he leads keeps in touch via the internet, and they are Beavers - a junior group of the Scout movement. He said they call themselves Cyber Beavers.
And I heard myself saying, “I bet you get some interesting links if you type that into Google.”:o :o :o
We took care a dalmation for three years while its owner was in grad school. Took it all over Washington State and British Columbia and never heard any of those.
I guess people out here aren’t as quick witted as in the UK. Maybe it’s because the movie is set in the UK and they relate to it more.
On the other hand, the dog was named “Spot”. That generated lots of comments.
