DM makes seems to make a point of not selling most of his unis himself. I
phoned him direct for my standard CCC (Chrome/cotterless/contour saddle), the
top-of the range standard, and he passed me on to Butterfingers, since he keeps
no stock. But you could phone him direct and see what he says. I somewhat doubt
you’ll get anything cheaper by approaching him direct though, and I’d happily
recommend Butterfingers as a mail-order supplier.
You’ll have to go direct to DM for spares. See my comments on DM in the uni FAQ.
Sem I can’t speak for (they’re Dutch, not UK anyway). Their giraffes are lighter
than DM, but have a reputation for bending. Sem have done
direct-from-the-supplier deals at British conventions. I shall be seeing what I
can find for at the BJC in Norwich in April, but I’m really after a DM too.

I’m not aware DM makes a 7’. I know he does 6’ and the famous 5’ to 8’
adjustable (if you can afford it, go for that one…). Ask him or Butterfingers.
Just out of interest, what is the significance of your Mum here? It occurs to me
that she won’t be taking a giraffe uni home as hand luggage, so you might as
well phone Butterfingers and ask how much it would cost to mail-order direct to
Oz. AFAIK, you don’t pay VAT on directly exported stuff. Other than making phone
calls cheaper, is your Mum of any help here (I’m sure she’s a wonderful Mum, but
is she a useful unicycle buyer?)
You could also try a wanted ad in The Catch to see if you can get a 2nd hand
one. A contact in the UK might be useful there though, people probably won’t
want to phone Oz unless you’re happy to accept the charges.
