"Unicycler" or "Unicyclist"

Ok, this has been bothering me. Personally I prefer “unicyclist.” It makes it sound like a unicycling is a skill… “Unicycler” sounds like someone who just does it… How does every one else say it. Or is there a single proper way? I’ve seen a lot of both on the fourms (unicyclist.com)…

Unicyclist is definitly more “correct”, although spell checker like in microsoft word and outlook seem to think the word unicyclist doesn’t exist…

yah, it’s unicyclist not unicycler

What website is this forum on? Oh thats right… www.unicyclist.com

My version of Micosoft word seems to think so.

already cited in a previous post: how about “lostAWheeler” ?

Searching a major news database, Factiva.com:

Unicyclist (or unicyclists): 3577 hits
Unicycler (or unicyclers): 105 hits

Google yields:

unicyclist OR unicyclists: 241,000 hits
unicycler OR unicyclers: 11,900 hits

Searching Onelook.com a dictionary aggregation site, unicyclist yields a handful of entries while unicycler yields none.

30 results for unicycler, only 3 for unicyclist

3 results for “ain’t”, 0 for “isn’t”.

Ain’t is a perfectly good and gramatically correct word, it’s just rarely used properly. It is the correct shortening of ‘am not’, just as ‘aren’t’ is the correct shortening of ‘are not’.
