unicycle ripoff scam- uncovered!!

Hi,

Ok this is pretty funny. I was talking with John Drummond the other day, and he mentioned that
someone was trying to sell him some new mountain unicycle, and that they’d sent him a picture
advertisment of it. I was curious so I asked him to send me the picture.

After some inquiries, it turns out the the factory in Taiwan that manufactures the new Velo Seat
and the new Norco unicycles, is trying to sell the earlier prototypes on the side!

Talk about theft of intellectual property.

I put the ad here: <http://community.webshots.com/photo/39449884/39449967grDmlS>. Now for the
really funny part. Check out the guy in the back. Then check out the picture of me in the
following picture in the album. See any resemblance?

Needless to say, I think Velo and Norco are going to put a stop to this.

-Kris.

Yes indeed, the Sport of Unicycling is finally moving into the BigTime! In a few short years we will have lawyers that specialize in uni litigation!

Kris,

The picture in the ad must indeed be old. Your shirt has really yellowed.

Bruce

Kris,

any chance that the seat in the picture is the new velo seat?

and whats with the "gizmo"brand hub and cranks?they look nice, but are they just fictitious?

Of course the legality of this depends on the fine print in whatever
agreements the companies have.

They are trying to sell the designs they supposedly made in confidence. Plus
they are not only stealing, but altering one of your photos. Plus they are
using your image without your permission. You got 'em on at least three
counts…

Three counts of what? Seems like it would be hard to do anything in Taiwan

Kris,

has’nt this question been thought about by more than just me?

That’s an earlier Velo prototype- the new one looks way different (click on My Ride at
krisholm.com to see a picture)

The gizmo hub is good, and less expensive than the profiles, and will be what the new Norcos come
with. I don’t think it will be called the gizmo hub- that’s a pretty dorky name.

I think a Gizmo hub would be neat. maybe add some do-hicky cranks and thing-a-ma-bob pedals.
I can see the assembly instructions now:Screw in the right thing-a-ma-bob to the right do-hicky. Attach the do-hicky to the gizmo.
