Ive recently became interested in the “street” side of unicycling. I have been Agressive street skating for 4 years now and i though this would be a new challenge.

I was wontering what kind of unicycle you guys would recomend for street use and maybe where i can learn what tricks there are.

All help much appriciated

PS. sorry if this gets posted a lot

You’d get more replies if you posted under Recreation.Sport.Unicycling more commonly referred to as RSU. Anyway how long have you been riding, how good are you, how good do you plan to be, and how much $ do you have? Answer those and we’ll (at least me) be able to help.

Ive never had one befor so im guessing that i wont be good at it lol. I dont however want that to effect what i buy because i know that im not gonna give up. Money isnt really an issue cuz its my 18th Bday soon and i was thinking of getting one for that.

If im gonna learn i want to learn a decent one not one thats designed for begginers.

There are three main options KH20, Onza, and Nimbus to my knowledge. The Kh and the onza are about the same, but the KH is heavier, a bit stronger, more expensive and uglier (in most peoples opinions, I don’t really care). Most will tell you to go with the KH. The other option is the Nimbus. Its a beginner trials uni but the only main difference between it and the others is the hub/crank set. The KH and onza are splined (the strongest you can get now), whereas the nimbus isn’t. Its considerably weaker there and thats where the most stress is when doing drops, if you’re spokes are properly tensioned. It has a strong fork, the same rim as the other two and is much cheaper. Depending on how high drops you end up doing with that one you will probably need to upgrade the hub/crank set later.

For each uni you can get more info, (prices etc.) at Unicycle.com. The Onza is an old picture, but they have the newer ones in stock. You can see a new picture at Unicycle.uk.com.

There are plenty of other options, that I don’t have info on. The Torker DX has a splined hub/crank set but is much cheaper then the KH or Onza, the Bedford Hardcore trials uni is very good, the Summit if you can find one, was rejected by KH and are being sold cheap. They’re essentially the same but the Summits slightly heavier, barely enough to notice. You could also buy different parts and make a super uni if you wanted.

Couple months ago I was also looking for a uni and thats the info I found. I don’t have first hand experience with any except the Summit which I ended up buying. I’m very pleased with it, the only dissapointment was what i paid for shipping cuz it was over the border. There are many much more experienced unicyclists out there who can tell you more. Remember to buy a 20"er. It’d be the best size for what you want to do.
