Unicycle Rack

Hey,

im currently 15, and when i am 17 i want to get a Vespa (scooter) instead of a car. A scooter is much cheeper than a car for tax, petrol, insurance etc… BTW this is a 125cc scoot, not a little 50cc one!

The only problem is unicycles. If I had a car, i would be able to throw my unis in the back of the car, and off i go. Well, i have over come this problem for the scooter. I have designed a unicycle rack which you lie across it (under the saddle so it doesnt move) - a bit like the saddle you put on a horse.

These scooters have a max. speed of around 60mph/90kmh and so not all that great for going very long distances, such as to conventions. Its is ok though, as I would relay on my dad, who would not mind, as he unicycles too…

The rack would be made out of metal (i want to learn to weld too!) and then chromed.

Please see pic below, and tell me what you think.

Joe,

NOTE: I AM only a 15 yr old boy, and this is just an idea i had in maths ones day. I am not saying this WILL work, as i have not had that much thought into measurment. Looking at a 26" MUni, it looks like it might just fit… only time will tell

you should repost this over in rec.sport.unicycling. more people will view it over there, and I’m sure many people will have great ideas

is there a spot to hook a trailor? you can build your own trailor and put lots of suff on it!

Quite a neat idea. I think you may have your unicycle a little too small in relation to the scooter, though. Maybe draw a scale drawing next to see how it works (That would even count as ‘maths’ so you can do it in class with a clear conscience  )

Thanks for your replys…

  1. Sofa, how can i move this thread? Should I just copy the text, and make a next thread and paste it in (inc pic) in RSU?

2)Unicycle_x, yes. Towbars are available. They would be very good for traveling. They are ugly things though to have sticking out the back of such a beautiful scooter (LOL :p). I though of either attaching a removable one (i know there available for cars), so you can just clip the ‘ball’ part of it on, when you want and you could hide it behind the mudflap when not in use.

3)Mr nr, Yes… i know the unis are a bit small… LOL :p. i was just messing round in maths as i said, so it wasnt detailed at all. I am in the process of drawing a detailed, scaled one.

Joe,

Hey joe, I like the numberplate:D

Remember to make it nice ‘n’ strong… I broke my bike rack carrying the muni when going over a bumpy bit… :frowning:

On the plus side the replacement looks stronger.

Phil

For the trailor idea, i’m sure that you could go to a custom motorcycle shop to get it made.
